Fighting Liberal Lies!

Does anyone know what “Change” Obama is promising?

By Jim Hayett
Monday, Aug 25 2008, 08:54 PM

I've queried that same Obama promise to many people and not one could give me a direct answer as to what his "change" means to America. I questioned college and high school kids, who are of legal age to vote, and NOT ONE could give me a real answer as to why they will vote for Obama. The most common answer is, "he wants change." Or he is "the man."  When I ask if the current system of freedom, a fine education, the best healthcare, democracy, wealth, and equality, is what needs to be changed, all I get in response is "no, not that." Than what, I ask? "Change in Washington. We just want a lot of stuff changed" However, when I get back to the question to what does Obama stand for that would make you vote for him, the answers are so vague that some don't even know why they are voting. It usually ends with the typical hate Bush attack so to interrupt the direction of the questions. Or, they attack the messenger, ME.

Obama has only been a Senator for 18 months.  But with all the recesses, four day weekends, campaigning and absences, Obama has only spent about 6 weeks of workdays on the Senate floor as one of the most junior Senators.  Most of his votes, about 80% when he was not absent, have been "present" or "abstain".  He also chairs a committee that has never met because the chairman has never called a meeting.  As a  trial lawyer he only tried 14 cases in court - and minor ones at that (his law firm says maybe closer to 30 but admits he had only a few cases). As a "community organizer" his major cause was getting the asbestos out of a housing project.  After 2 years of trying the asbestos was still there when he left and is still there even now that he is a Senator and presumably has some pull to get things done.

That's it. His entire real world work resume.  6 weeks  work in the Senate with nothing to show for it.  Two years as a lawyer and only 14 minor trials.  And two years as a "community  organizer" with nothing accomplished.

It's becoming all too obvious that American voters who are supporting Barack Obama don't have a clue what they're doing, as evidenced by the fact that not one of them - NOT ONE of them I've spoken to can spell out his qualifications. Heck, the most liberal media in the world can not explain why he should be elected.  Political experience?  Negligible. Foreign relations? Non-existent. Achievements? Name one. Someone who wants to unite the country? Ayers, Wright, Revko aren't the ones to help in uniting this country. If you haven't read his wife's thesis from Princeton, look it up on the web. And she could be our next First Lady? The only thing I can gather from Obama's constant harping about change is that we're in for a lot of new taxes and little, if any, defense against terrorism.  Obama wants to add more taxes to oil companies profits while ignoring the drilling we can do in our own country to help lower our dependence on foreign oil. How many Americans are that stupid to believe that his added tax on the oil companies will reduce the cost of a gallon of gas?

I don't know about you, but I have made my decision. McCain is a war hero and spent five years in a Vietnam prison. Unlike several presidential candidates in recent years whose military service is questionable or non-existent, you will not find anyone to denigrate the integrity and moral courage of this man. Except those liberals that just hate any Republican. MSM ring a bell? A graduate of Annapolis, during his Naval service he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. His own son is now serving in the Marine Corps in Iraq. Barack Obama is fond of saying 'We honor John McCain's service...BUT...', which to me is condescending and offensive - because what I hear is, 'Let's forget this man's sacrifice for his country and his proven leadership abilities, and talk some more about change.'

It's time for all Americans to take a stance and say NO to their party rhetoric and realize that Obama is not qualified in any category to be the next President of the world's greatest country. We can't be that ignorant of a country. It just can't be.

The only change I can expect from Obama is what's left of my paycheck after he's through.

Jim,

Glad to see someone speaking the truth about Obama. Did you see last night’s DNC? I thought Ted Kennedy was being ordained as a Catholic Priest! My God, this man is a drunken murder and he gets a full baptism from these democrats. How bad can things get for this country? And now the media is all over Obama as if he were the “second coming.” What a disgrace to America. It’s no surprise why so many countries look down on us. To worship a cowardly killer like Kennedy must make fools out of us Americans. If any foreigner is listening, I do NOT support people like Kennedy or the trash that comes from Hollywood. Those that support Ted Kennedy and Hollywood are liberal democrats and I will never stand with that group. Most Americans will not either. Liberals are destroying the world and they don’t even know it.

If John McCain were not the celebrated son of an admiral/media darling, he'd mearly be remembered as one of over 600 POW survivors. From Doctor Phillip Butler, 8 year POW:

"Succeeding as a POW is a group sport, not an individual one. We all supported and encouraged each other to survive and succeed. John knows that. He was not an individual POW hero. He was a POW who surmounted the odds with the help of many comrades, as all of us did."

McCain is more a victim of circumstances than he is a super hero. Please remove the cape.

If you are going to make claims about Obama, the very least you could do is present FACTS.  Senator Obama has served since 2005, when he began his term.  He was elected in 2004.  Why should we believe you when you present "facts" if you can't even get this fact right?

Give me a break!

Obama wants change from the hypocrisy and lies that have infested our political system.  The old man is not a Maverick, he is a politician who uses his Vietnam war experience as a credential to be commander in chief.  If this experience makes a person a better canidate, then John Kerry's war experience should have made him more qualified than George Bush.  McCain, like Bush, graduated at the bottom of their class.  I am one who would rather see an above average student become president, not a C- student.  Please give me your spin on the following about Mr. McCain:

That New Time Religion

John McCain grew up Episcopalian. He went to an Episcopalian high school. For at least 15 years, he has been listed as an Episcopalian in authoritative directories such as the Almanac of American Politics and Congressional Quarterly's Politics in America 2008. He told a reporter from McClatchy News Service in June 2007 that he was an Episcopalian.

Suddenly, in September 2007, he's campaigning in South Carolina, the heavily Baptist state where George W. Bush barely managed to stop McCain's presidential campaign 8 years ago. And guess what? McCain tells a reporter "By the way, I'm not Episcopalian. I'm Baptist."

When pressed, he said he's attended the North Phoenix Baptist Church in Arizona for more than 15 years, though he has never been baptized in that church. Now see, that's exactly the problem. Baptism is kind of a big thing in the Baptist Church. (That's how they got the name.) No baptism, not Baptist.

Anyway, details aside, this is one very clear indication of how McCain has changed. Now, he's just another hungry politician, happy to pander if it helps him win. Which eliminates the very reason people were excited about him in 2000 -- his honesty.

Founding Member of the Keating Five

Back in the old days, defendants in famous trials got numbers -- the Chicago Eight, the Gang of Four, the Dave Clark Five, the Daytona 500. McCain was one of the "Keating Five," congressmen investigated on ethics charges for strenuously helping convicted racketeer Charles Keating after he gave them large campaign contributions and vacation trips.

Charles Keating was convicted of racketeering and fraud in both state and federal court after his Lincoln Savings & Loan collapsed, costing the taxpayers $3.4 billion. His convictions were overturned on technicalities; for example, the federal conviction was overturned because jurors had heard about his state conviction, and his state charges because Judge Lance Ito (yes, that judge) screwed up jury instructions. Neither court cleared him, and he faces new trials in both courts.)

Though he was not convicted of anything, McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating after Keating gave McCain at least $112,00 in contributions. In the mid-1980s, McCain made at least 9 trips on Keating's airplanes, and 3 of those were to Keating's luxurious retreat in the Bahamas. McCain's wife and father-in-law also were the largest investors (at $350,000) in a Keating shopping center; the Phoenix New Times called it a "sweetheart deal."

Mafia ties:

In 1995, McCain sent birthday regards, and regrets for not attending, to Joseph "Joe Bananas" Bonano, the head of the New York Bonano crime family, who had retired to Arizona. Another politician to send regrets was Governor Fife Symington, who has since been kicked out of office and convicted of 7 felonies relating to fraud and extortion.

Family Problems

McCain has a reputation as a politician who has difficulty keeping his pants zipped, according to Republican sources. He acknowledges that his adultery broke up his first marriage. His second wife Cindy, the daughter of a wealthy Budweiser beer distributor, was addicted to prescription narcotics and even stole hard drugs from a medical charity that she ran. McCain acknowledges that she didn't want him to run, and only agreed once he promised that she doesn't have to go to New Hampshire or Iowa.

Victor...his time actually working in the Senate is very accurate. Even Obama doesn't deny that.

Give me a break

Reread my post in full. What Obama has said and who he rubs elbows with (wait until my next post about Obama’s books and the lies that he makes) doesn’t compare to what you printed about McCain. Much not even relevant or true. And I haven’t even talked about Rev Wright or Obama’s shady deals with terrorists, etc. If you are going to use personality and past problems as your reason to vote, than you will have to vote for McCain. That’s if you are true to your word. McCain past is like Sunday School when compared to Obama’s. And I’m sure there is more to come. Do you liberals not know what Obama has done and how un-American he truly can be?

August 26, 2008 1:08 PM

Jim Hayett

Jmark, give me a break, Victor, Randy…sorry about the length of this comment but here are the LIES AND FACTS about OBAMA, your candidate. If you want equality to make sure you vote for the right candidate, this data will opt you out from the Obama camp and put you right into the McCain camp. Unless, of course, you are a hypocrite or just party politics where you can’t think or vote for yourself!

Obama's Not Exactly

1.) Selma March Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965. (Google'Obama Selma ' for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)

2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.

3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - NOT EXACTLY, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.

4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - NOT EXACTLY, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya . It is the first widespread violence in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Oba ma, is Odinga's follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out the following link for verification of that...and for more. Obama's cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for presiden t and tried to get Sharia muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers have burned Christians' homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth.

5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - NOT EXACTLY, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn't allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.

6.) My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama. Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. If elected, he would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side. While Barack Hussein Obama's father was from Kenya , his father's family was mainly Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama's father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father's birth certificate even states he's Arab, not Afri can Negro). From....and for more....go to..... www.arcadeathome.com/newsboy.phtml

7.) I Never Practiced Islam - NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office. 4-3-08 Article 'Obama was 'quite religious in islam''www.wnd.com/index.php`559

8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian - NOT EXACTLY, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book).February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to p rayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as 'one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.' This is just one example of what Pamela is talking about when she says 'Obama's narrative is being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.'

9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you could speak the language.

10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia , I Have More Foreign Experience - NOT EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even speak the language. What did you learn except how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.

11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.

12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion - NOT EXACTLY, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your classmates said you were just fine – in fact, his classmates say he was the biggest dealer in school.

13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office - NOT EXACTLY, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life - NOT EXACTLY, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

15.) I Won't Run On A National Ticket In '08 - NOT EXACTLY, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.

16.) Voting 'Present' is Common In Illinois Senate - NOT EXACTLY, they are common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.

17.) Oops, I Misvoted - NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by church groups and Democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.

18.) I Was A Professor Of Law - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill - NOT EXACTLY, you didn't write it, introduce it, change it or create it.

21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass - NOT EXACTLY, it took just 14 days from start to finish.

22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill - NOT EXACTLY, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly because of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.

23.) I Have Released My State Records - NOT EXACTLY, as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.

24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess - NOT EXACTLY, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens . You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.

25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America - NOT EXACTLY, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.

26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois - NOT EXACTLY, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.

27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year - NOT EXACTLY, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.

28.) No one on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA - NOT EXACTLY, the Canadian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.

29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism - NOT EXACTLY, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction off Israel .

30.) I Want All Votes To Count - NOT EXACTLY, you said let the delegates decide.

31.) I Want Americans To Decide - NOT EXACTLY, you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.

32.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate - NOT EXACTLY, you passed 26, most of which you didn't write yourself.

33.) I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics - NOT EXACTLY, you used tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.

34.) I Don't Take PAC Money - NOT EXACTLY, you take loads of it.

35.) I don't Have Lobbysists - NOT EXACTLY, you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.

36.) My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad - NOT EXACTLY, your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one afternoon.

37.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq - NOT EXACTLY, you weren't in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time.

38.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care - NOT EXACTLY, your plan leaves us all to pay for the 15,000,000 (That's 15 Million) who don't have to buy it.

39.) My uncle liberated Auschwitz concentration camp - NOT EXACTLY, your mother had no brothers and the Russan army did the liberating.

I wish that we would go back to the time when each party would hold their convention and hammer out the platform they want to present to the public.  After that is accomplished then they would choose the individuals the party felt had the best chance of being elected and getting the platform turned into legislation.  I personally think it is absurd to allow members of the opposing party to help choose your parties candidate - open primaries.

I don't know what changes will occur, I can only tell you what I would like to see happen.  Affordable health/drug care.  My wife and I live on SS and disability income.  The disability income is fixed and has not increased and the SS increase is laughable. Private health insurance is out of the question due to cost so Medicare and the VA are the only options.  Supplemental drug insurance is purchased to offset some of the costs of medications. Under our plan generics cost $8.00 all the time.  Brand name drugs cost $30.00 - $60.00.  When you reach what has been referred to as "the doughnut hole" you pay full retail price.  We reach that point about mid April.  Discounting generics, our monthly drug bill increases from $120.00 to $796.50. If we are fortunate enough to make it to AZ for a while, we will go to Mexico and purchase the same drugs at 20/30% of the US cost. Health care needs to change.

I would like to see the President have "line item veto".

I would like to see bills come out of Crongress that deal with one issue at a time and not have dozens of unrelated attachments to them.

I would like to see the end of "signing statements"

I would like to see term limits placed on our Congress men and women.

I would like to see a lifting of the restrictions placed on the possesion of handguns in certain cities but also the reinstatement of a ban on assault type weapons.

I want to see "Roe v Wade" continue.  This is a moral/medical decision that belongs in the hands of the adults involved, not the government. Morality cannot be legislated as witnessed by the failure of the 18th Amendment.

I do not know if any of these wishes of mine are in the plans of either candidate, but I will watch, listen and read very intently over the next months to determine who comes the closest.

One final wish of mine that I doubt will occur.  I'm tired of the negative campaigning that has gone on for years. Convince me of your positives, not your opponents negatives!  I believe that this will not happen until the electorate of this country takes some extreme measures to reign in the professional politicians. Term limits, campaign funding limits and campaign time limits would be a start.

Give me a break!

Lists are great.  Here is one on McCain.  Like your list not all may be correct, but lets throw them out there for your ignorant country!

Signing of the GI Bill: Now enthusiastically for it... after it passed. Previously attacked the Webb Bill. Didn't even bother to vote on it.

http://bravenewfilms.org/...

Campaign reform: On political reform, McCain last January opposed a grassroots lobbying bill he once supported.  In 2006, the "New York Sun" reported that his presidential ambitions led McCain to reverse his support of a campaign financial bill called McCain/Feingold.

http://www.nysun.com/...

Alien Minors Act/Immigration: Last October he said he would vote against the development, relief and education for Alien Miners Act that he co-sponsored, and then said he would vote against an immigration bill that he introduced.

http://www.youtube.com/...

Gay Marriage: In 2006, he said on "HARDBALL," quote, I think that gay marriage should be allowed.  Then after the commercial break he added, I do not believe that gay marriages should be legal.

http://www.youtube.com/...

Abortion: On abortion, 1999, publicly supporting Roe v. Wade, privately opposing it in a letter to the National Right to Life Committee.  In the 2000 debates, he would change the GOP platform to permit exceptions for rape, incest, the life of the mother.  May 2007, "flipped", ABCNews.com reported.

http://abcnews.go.com/...

Nuclear Waste: No Storing Nuclear waste at Yucca mountain earlier..now flipped

http://www.lasvegassun.com/...

Negotiating with Kim Jong-Il: Negotiating with Kim Jong-Il not acceptable until President Bush did it last week.

http://bondibox.newsvine.com/...

Negotiating with Cuba/Castro: With Fidel Castro acceptable in 2000, not 2008.

http://vids.myspace.com/...

Negotiating with Hamas/Terrorists: ...with terrorists appropriate when Colin Powell went to Syria and in 2006 when McCain said sooner or later we‘ll talk to Hamas, but not appropriate now re: Obama's willingness to use diplomacy.

http://bondibox.newsvine.com/...

Pakistan: Unilateral action against suspected terrorists in Pakistan; "Confused leadership" when Obama suggested it, not when Bush did it.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/...

Warrantless Wire-taps: Six months ago, presidents had to obey the law, not anymore.

http://www.nytimes.com/...

Torture: Torture detainees, no way, except for the CIA.  Hold them indefinitely, wrong in 2003, the right move in 2008.

http://www.youtube.com/...

Iraq War: The Iraq war, the right course 2004, stay the course 2005. Today, McCain has always been a Rumsfeld critic.

http://thinkprogress.org/...

Tax Cuts: In 2001, he could not in good conscious support them.  Now he can.

http://www.youtube.com/...

Estate Tax: 2006, "I agree with President Roosevelt who created it".  In 2008, "most unfair".

http://www.crooksandliars.com/...

Privatizing Social Security: This month not for privatizing Social Security, never has been.  In 2004, he "didn‘t see how benefits will last without it".

http://www.youtube.com/...

Balanced Budget: In February, promised a balanced budget in four years by April, make that eight years.

http://www.perrspectives.com/...

Windfall Profits Tax: In May, glad to look at the windfall profits tax.  By June, that was Jimmy Carter's big idea.

flipfloptracker.blogspot.com...

Offshore Drilling: In 2000, no new off shore drilling.  Last month, it would take years to develop.  This month, very helpful in the short term.

http://thinkprogress.org/...

Coyotes..Bush Big Time Fund Raisers: The Bush fund-raisers McCain called coyotes breaking the law in 2000.  By 2006, they were co-chairing McCain fund-raisers.

http://abcnews.go.com/...

"Agents of Intolerance": Buddy Jerry Falwell...an "agent of intolerance in 2000". Kissed Falwell's ass in 2007... The Reverend Hagee and Parsley in, then out this year alone.

http://www.youtube.com/...

Martin Luther King Holiday: In 1983, opposed Martin Luther King Day.  Today, all for it.

http://www.boston.com/...

Confederate Flag: In 2000, defended South Carolina's confederate flag as a symbol of heritage.  Two years later, McCain calling it, quote, an act of political cowardice not to say the flag should come down.  Quote, "everybody said, look out.  You can't win in South Carolina if you say that."

http://www.youtube.com/...

Evolution in Public Schools: In 2005, McCain said alternatives to evolution should be taught in school.  "Evolving" the opposite position he had taken in 2000.

http://thinkprogress.org/...

Restoring the Everglades: On June 5, John McCain traveled to the Everglades to win over Floridians and environmentally-minded voters. There he proclaimed, "I am in favor of doing whatever’s necessary to save the Everglades." Sadly, as ThinkProgress documented, McCain not only opposed $2 billion in funding for the restoration of the Everglades national park, he backed President Bush’s veto of the legislation in 2007. "I believe," he said, "that we should be passing a bill that will authorize legitimate, needed projects without sacrificing fiscal responsibility."

http://www.crooksandliars.com/...

Swiftboating: McCain's sudden embrace of Swiftboating --- which today is synonymous with a concerted effort to lie about an opponent's history --- is all the more deplorable because he has hired retired Col. George "Bud" Day, a proud member of the group that Swiftboated Kerry --- and someone McCain once described as having "tunnel vision" --- to lead what McCain is calling his "Truth Squad."

http://digg.com/...

GITMO/Habeus Corpus:Despite John McCain's outrage last week that the Supreme Court ordered Gitmo detainees know why they were being held, or released -- Political Base has stumbled upon a McCain appearance on Meet the Press in 2005 where he argued they deserved trials, going so far as to say "if it means releasing some of them, you'll have to release them." Shameless.

http://www.politicalbase.com/...

Divestment from South Africa: During his June 2 speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), John McCain called for the international community to target Iran for the kind of worldwide sanctions regime applied to apartheid-era South Africa. Unfortunately, McCain’s lobbyist-advisers Charlie Black and Rick Davis each represented firms doing business with Tehran. Even more unfortunate, John McCain was frequently not among those offering "moral clarity and conviction" in backing "a divestment campaign against South Africa, helping to rid that nation of the evil of apartheid."

http://thinkprogress.org/...

Opposing Hurricane Katrina Investigations: During a June 4th town hall meeting in Baton Rouge, John McCain answered a reporter’s question regarding Hurricane Katrina and the failure of the New Orleans levees by announcing:

"I’ve supported every investigation and ways of finding out what caused the tragedy. I’ve been here to New Orleans. I’ve met with people on the ground."

As it turns out, not so much. McCain’s revisionist history neglects to mention that in 2005 and 2006 he twice voted against a commission to study the government’s response to Katrina. He also opposed three separate emergency funding measures providing relief to Katrina victims, including the extension of five months of Medicaid benefits. And as ThinkProgress pointed out, "until traveling there one month ago, McCain had made just one public tour of New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina touched down in August 2005."

http://thinkprogress.org/...

McCain On His Economic Abilities: "I have not. I have not. Actually, I have not." "I said that I am stronger on national security issues because of all the time I spent in the military and others. I am very strong on the economy. I understand it. I have a lot more experience than my opponent."

-- Sen. John McCain, in an interview on ABC News, when asked why he "admitted that you're not exactly an expert when it comes to the economy."

However, NBC News compiles past McCain quotes in which he said "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should" or "I'm going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated."

Temperment and Temper: "My temper has often been both a matter of public speculation and personal concern," he wrote in a 2002 memoir. "I have a temper, to state the obvious, which I have tried to control with varying degrees of success because it does not always serve my interest or the public's."  Not true and not under control, according to many of those on the "W"rong side of McCain's famous temper.

Drilling For Oil and Automobile Efficiency: "Last week, Senator McCain reversed himself and said we need to drill more. Today, he has reversed years of failing to support more efficient cars, new energy technologies and green jobs.

http://www.speaker.gov/...

Offshore Drilling: Two weeks ago, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) offered "a bit of a capitulation to the oil companies" by announcing that he would end the federal ban on offshore oil drilling. Not only is McCain’s move a break with environmental activist, but it is also "a reversal of the position he took in his 2000 presidential campaign.

Payroll Taxes: "When he was asked in 2005 whether he could see himself lifting the cap on the payroll tax, (McCain) said, 'I could.' Two years later, during a May 13, 2007, appearance on "Meet the Press," Russert asked McCain if he was still open to lifting the Social Security tax cap as part of a compromise. "Am I opposed to tax increases?" said McCain. "Yes. But we've got to sit down together and figure out what our options are, and tough decisions have to be made, Republicans and Democrats. And I know how to do that." Asked about the 2005 remark, a McCain spokesman acknowledged the tension with his current position while arguing that the Arizona senator's criticism of his Democratic rival is still valid because McCain has spoken out against higher Social Security taxes as a 2008 White House hopeful.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/...

Ethics Reform and Abramoff: On the stump, Sen. John McCain often cites his work tackling the excesses of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff as evidence of his sturdy ethical compass. A little-known document, however, shows that McCain may have taken steps to protect his Republican colleagues from the scope of his investigation.

Referree33…much of your comments bring up legitimate concerns. But much of what you want is not going to come from the democratic side. Line item veto, ear marks (pork), term limits, hand guns and a host of more issues are not in the democratic ideology.

In regards to Roe vs Wade, that medical icon slapped on by liberals is just an excuse to have an abortion. Don’t want an abortion? How about not having sex with some man that you don’t want to have a baby with in the first place. Protection?? No where in the Constitution does it say I have to pay for an abortion for a women that wants sex with a man that she doesn’t want the baby with, or even pay for it, after the fun is over. I looked real hard and many times into the U.S. Constitution, but I just can’t find that rule.

Givemeabreak…Please, give ME a break! Read your list. These are issues any candidate will work on, but may not get accomplished. Obama’s lists are plain outright LIES! That’s not a difference? Givemeabreak, are you too this brainwashed? Look at the entire difference. Obama’s list is a mile long of lies and fallacies; yours are issues that do not make much sense or truth.

Look at the difference.

Obama:  1.) Selma March Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965. (Google'Obama Selma ' for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)

McCain: Windfall Profits Tax: In May, glad to look at the windfall profits tax.  By June, that was Jimmy Carter's big idea. What the hell does this have to do with anything?

Obama: 6.) My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language. Barack Hussein Obama's father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father's birth certificate even states he's Arab, not African Negro).

OBAMA DOESN”T EVEN KNOW HIS NAME OR THAT HE STUDIED ISLAM?? And this is a comparison to a war hero in John McCain???

McCain: Restoring the Everglades: On June 5, John McCain traveled to the Everglades to win over Floridians and environmentally-minded voters.

Givemebraek, This is a joke!!!

Brainwashed is like the pot calling the kettle black.  I think you should change your blog to "Fighting Liberal Lies, While Spreading Conservative Ones".  In the future it would be nice if every one writing a blog would cite their source so people who read these could verify or challenge the source.  Maybe then you can stop asking if the country is this ignorant.

I read the Selma speach. Obama makes reference to that historic event as being the catalyst for which brought his parents together. Read it for yourself.

Jim, You tell me that my concerns will not be a part of the Democrat agenda, can you tell me that they will be part of the Republican agenda?.

I am incensened by the narrowness of your view on the abortion issue.  Do you really believe that the only people that would consider an abortion are those that have unprotected sex at the drop of a hat (or clothes). Let me tell you our story.  In 1979 I divorced my wife of 11 years for cause (adultery).  I was awarded the custody of two children, age 11 and 6. My ex was ordered to pay me support. I met and fell in love with my wife of 29 years.  She is a Masters Degreed nurse who specialized in Obstetrics.  She was on the pill and we always used a condom when we expressed our love to each other when having intimate relations.  Somehow there was a breakdown of the protective devices and she became pregnant. Between us we now have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Our decision at the time is immaterial.  The point I tried to make to you which you ignored is that this is not a decision that the government should be involved in.  Where in the Constitution does it say that life begins at conception?  I may agree ethically but not legally.  Until the Supreme Court reverses or the Congress rewrites the law abortion is legal and I belive strongly that my government should not be involved in dictating my morality. You claim to be a centrist which by definition is a moderate.  However your expressed opinions and even the title of your blog indicate that you have anything but a moderqate point of view!

Jmark…I waited until last nights DNC to respond to your comment. Per your request, I watched the DNC (both nights) and I came away with two very important points. The first one involves your response that if I wanted to find what “change” Obama is pushing on us, I should watch the DNC. I did and I have the same question that the DNC asked Obama a few weeks ago. “When are you going to explain the Hope and Change that you keep talking about?” I found zero comments from the DNC as to Obama’s hope and change. As did his own constituents. All I saw and heard were attacks and hate toward Bush and much of it lies. How a person like you, that seems to be intelligent, can stay with such a despicable and belittling group like the Democratic Party, is beyond me. I left that pathetic group many years ago and last night underscored those reason to perfection: attack, hate, and bamboozle those that can’t think for themselves.

The second point I got out of this is that Fox News was the most widely watched network for the DNC. Not one competitor came even close to their numbers. I’m glad to see that most of America is starting to wake up to the bias liberal media we are subjected to everyday. Hope it continues.

August 27, 2008 6:38 AM

Jim Hayett

givemeabrak...typical rhetoric. Prove me wrong. I did yours. Your attacks on McCain are not about lies like I proved with Obama. In fact, a few I pointed out make no sense or have any meaning or are a complete sentence. How can you say these are McCain’s lies or issues when I can't even finish what you printed?

And while you’re at it, why don’t jmark and you give me an issue from Obama that doesn’t involve handouts from the Treasury. As you know, handouts are what gets votes but is also the greatest way to destroy a free democracy.

August 27, 2008 6:56 AM

Jim Hayett

Referee33…read my response please. The liberals use “medical” reasons to say abortion is and should be legal. For TRUE medical reason, I agree. But you have not done your research. The vast majority, and I mean vast majority, of abortions come from women who have sex but don’t want to have a child from the man they had sex with. And in some states, minors get abortions and NOT for medical reasons. And the tax payer gets stuck with much of the bill. As an American, I want to know where in the Constitution, or for your benefit, ethically too, does it say a women can have sex with a man that she doesn’t want to have a baby with and get an abortion. And in many cases, we pay for it. I don’t see the justice in that. And don’t forget that over 70% of the people polled didn’t agree with the Supreme Court on Roe vs. Wade. The SC even said they know most Americans don’t agree (none of the judges were elected just in case you forgot) with Roe vs. Wade, but we are going to pass it anyway. Yes, the true American way. Forget the majority; just shove your ideology down our throats.

I am a centrist. That is proven by the fact that I don’t pull a lever for one party when it comes time to vote. Just because my Christianity and my belief in God says abortion is wrong and is murder, doesn’t mean I don’t have balanced views in other areas. I was once convinced by liberals to do that, but I decided to make my own decisions about life and politics. I suggest all Americans should stay away from any political party and the lies and rhetoric that permeate those parties.  Last nights DNC was a classic example that makes my point irrefutable.

Jmark….give me a break! The Selma speech PROVES through chronological order that Obama lied again. Read “Obama Nation” and you can see the FACTUAL proof to all his bs in his books. Wake up jmark, your voting for a fraud!

August 27, 2008 8:09 AM

Give me a break!

Jim's comment:

"And while you’re at it, why don’t jmark and you give me an issue from Obama that doesn’t involve handouts from the Treasury. As you know, handouts are what gets votes but is also the greatest way to destroy a free democracy."

As I recall to big handouts from the Treasury came from Goerge Bush, and yes I agree he is destroying our democracy.  Thanks for pointing that out.

One issue Obama's that does not involve the spend and spend policy of the Republicans is bringing our troops home from the Bush's war in Iraq.  In fact it will save the Treasury money.  Somehow borrowing money from China to fight a war in Iraq to protect our interests over their does not make sense.  This ties into a second issue "our economy".  McCain's economy is just fine, but it is the rest of the economy that Obama wants to help.

August 27, 2008 8:37 AM

jmark

Jim, you referenced his speech, I read it. The claim you're making is pure fantasy. The sources you use lack credibility. Obama Nation was written by the same right wing hack who 'swift boated' Kerry.

August 27, 2008 8:59 AM

referee33

Jim- I wondered about your figure of 70% of the people not agreeing with the SC decision, so I ran a "Dogpile" search for  "Roe v Wade opinion polls".  One of the hits was for a web site titled PollingReport.com.  Please go there and see if you agree with my opinion that on the average 60% of the people polled in all the polls listed there agree with the SC decision.

I agree with the second part of your comment completely!  Political parties are like any other marketable product.  The greater the hype, glitz and glamor, the easier it is to forget about the substance. I'm sure that next weeks RNC will be like watching a summer rerun on conventioneering hypebole.

And as an added bonus a compilation of flip flops and lies... www.youtube.com/watch

Watch the words come straight out of his mouth.  It will be hard to spin his own words, so you better just keep on attacking Obama.  LOL

August 27, 2008 3:09 PM

Jim Hayett

Jmark…you obviously didn’t read the book. The author has proven all the Obama lies from his book and it is all footnoted. I even proved that with your own rebuttal about Selma. Do the math jmark. Obama is a fake and a liar. He is also unfit to be President and has no accomplishments in the Senate and shouldn’t even be a Senator.

August 27, 2008 3:49 PM

Jim Hayett

Give me a break...again give ME a break! I watched this CNN propaganda. McCain didn’t lie. He told everyone that Iraq is improving and some areas you can indeed travel unarmed. What planet do you live on? The war in Iraq is a great success and al Qaeda is nearly destroyed.

Obama’s lies are about himself, his family, and his past and all lies just to try and impress. Wake up! Are you also brainwashed by CNN and the other liberal MSM?

August 27, 2008 3:56 PM

Jim Hayett

Referree33…here is the recent data. The number was close to 70% because the SC did make those comments about the majority against Roe vs. Wade. The current numbers are down around 50-50.

The Harris Poll® has been measuring attitudes toward the Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion ever since it was decided by the Supreme Court in 1973. During the 33 years since then, Harris Polls found majorities, between 52 and 65 percent of all U.S. adults, in favor of Roe vs. Wade. Now, a new Harris Poll finds that Roe vs. Wade is supported only by a slender 49 percent to 47 percent plurality. In other words, support and opposition are almost equal.

However, a substantial 63 to 32 percent majority of all adults do not think it is likely that this Supreme Court will overturn Roe vs. Wade. Furthermore, only 20 percent of U.S. adults favor permitting a woman to get an abortion under no circumstances.

These are some of the results of a Harris Poll of 1,016 U.S. adults surveyed by telephone by Harris Interactive® between April 4 and 10, 2006.

Other interesting findings include:

• While Democrats (55%) favor Roe vs. Wade and Republicans (61%) oppose it,

Jim - Obama is a radical muslim terrorist who wants to gay marry all straight people and straight marry all gay people. All people will have to get abortions male and female and he'll raise taxes on everybody to 100%. He'll let Al-Quadia in just to get rid of Christians first and then make you pray 5 times a day.

He'll also take all the money away from middle aged men from Wisconsin and give it to the black people in Milwaukee.

He's also the anti-christ and will destroy the earth, but then only the lucky few christians will be taking away on Jesus's UFO.

Owe, I forgot about the Mexicans, they will take away all our jobs and be able to commit crimes when they want. They will also get all your money as well.

Poor white male middle aged American's, we just have it so tough.

August 27, 2008 5:39 PM

Jim Hayett

Jmark…the one who doesn’t read the “speech” or the stories and research to back up Obama’s lies are you. You also had many chances to answer the question I posed to all about the Iraq war and the WMD’s. You didn’t seize the moment. The lies from Obama are glaring and are becoming too obvious. I didn’t know about all of these lies until I went outside the box. Try it sometime.

It’s liberals like you who refuse to address these problems. I read or listened to all the speeches. There is still zero answer from Obama in regards to his “hope and change.” I can see that you are one of many that are suckered into Obama’s fancy rhetoric. Think for yourself and don’t make any political party do it for you. I can also see why the DNC has been warning Obama to start telling us his plans for “hope and change.”  He also yet to tell us his plans for America except to raise taxes. That’s all I know. Otherwise, all the other issues have been flipped-flopped.

August 27, 2008 6:25 PM

LH...that was funny. But Obama isn't all that bad. Just a liar and too wet behind the ears to lead this country during times like these.

August 27, 2008 6:26 PM

Jim Hayett

Give me a break….you lead right to the trap. Ignore the fact that the most balanced news outlet in the U.S. leads all networks with the DNC viewers and what do you do? Attack the messenger (Fox News) and ignore the facts.

Does any liberal, out there think for themselves? Can I get a show if hands please?

August 27, 2008 6:29 PM

jmark

Duh! Ok, I admit it, I was wrong. You were correct about the Selma speech chronology; for some reason it just didn't register with me. But, what Mr. Corsi failed to mention is that Obama was challenged, and he responded: "Obama said later that he meant to credit the entire civil rights movement with his parents’ union, not just the Bloody Sunday marchers." In all fairness can you justify labeling him as a liar regarding this incident? Could he have misspoken?
