What Hearing Loss and Tinnitus Sound like

Based on the response to my 'Speech Banana" blog, I've been able to find some more links on just what hearing loss sounds like for those of you that don't have hearing loss.

By clicking on the links below, people with normal hearing can get an impression of how music sounds for a hearing-impaired person.  The first link is what non-hearing impaired hear.  As you go down the list of links, the amount of hearing loss will be increased.  I've also found 2 examples of tinnitus.  Keep in mind that these are only examples and some of us have different levels/sounds of tinnitus.

For those of you with hearing loss, feel free to go to the link that best represents your loss.  It was kind of fun for me in that I could actually hear what I am not able to by turning up the volume of my speakers.  The sounds you hear will depend on the quality of your computer equipment.  (I knew that I should have spent the extra money for those Bose speakers)

You cannot use these sound files to test your own hearing.  And, you cannot test your own hearing on the Internet.  I heard from someone this week that was going to pay a fee to do this.  Don't!  It's just another scam from a hearing aid dispenser to get you in their door.  Jeez!

These sound files were found on the Danish Information Center's Hearing Impairment and Deafness website.  I always wondered what sounds from 2000 Hz to 8000 Hz sounded like.....

Have a great week!
