It's Hemmer Time

Liberalism will be the downfall of America

By Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer
Friday, Aug 1 2008, 06:47 PM
Numerous blogs on the website  "livinglakecountry.com" have dealt with issues resulting in strong conservative and liberal viewpoints and discussions.  Heated exchanges, posts, and comments have been made regarding articles on topics such as terrorism, Iraq, the Presidential race, gun control, President Bush, and religion, just to name a few.

As a conservative, I feel compelled to call out liberals for what they are and what they represent - a danger to the United States.  Following are ten key points that demonstrate how damaging liberalism is to our country.

1)  Liberals will ferociously defend and even happily echo the lies of other liberals. Liberal feminists will defend Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy. Liberals who pride themselves on being tolerant of other races will support Robert Byrd. Why? Because even if they're wrong, they're still fellow liberals -- which must mean they’re nice people. What this leads to is an attitude that can be summed up like so: "The only things that a liberal can do wrong is to be insufficiently liberal, to question an important plank of the liberal agenda, or to do something politically that aids conservatives."

Conservatives, on the other hand, just by virtue of being conservatives, are mean at best and evil at worst. Is it wrong to lie about an evil person? Technically, "yes," but there's a reason "two wrongs don't make a right" is said so often -- it's because so many people do believe "two wrongs do make a right." Moreover, what about defending the indefensible? Well, is it wrong to defend a good (liberal) person who is being attacked by an evil (conservative) person, even if it's justifiable? At the gut level, most liberals don't think so.   Why can't conservatives ask questions about Barack Obama's background?  Why can't we learn more about him as a person?  What is he hiding?  We cannot ask - for fear of being labeled "racist" or "mean-spirited", even is such questions would help America.

2)  Liberals display a "blame America first" attitude.  Why do they judge America so harshly while ignoring the inhumane policies of other nations?  To praise the United States would amount to suggestion that we are "better" than other countries.  Liberals cannot accept this.  It explains why liberals reject or have contempt for patriotism.   It appears as though liberals feel morally superior to rant about what is wrong with America.  Plus, when people from other nations agree with them, then that makes them feel even better.

3)  Liberals believe it is a sign of intelligence to question or reject what conservatives believe.  A typical liberal stereotype portrays conservatives as sheep - who cannot think for themselves.  By saying this, liberals think they demonstrate how smart they are.  When in reality - who are the sheep?  Do liberals ever think for themselves?  Look at Joe Lieberman and what the Democrats did to him when he thought on his own - and agreed with conservatives on some issues!  He was sent out to pasture and became an Independent.

4)  Liberals posses a core attitude which rejects the traditions -  conduct, established religion, the definition of marriage, teaching styles and what is right and wrong.  In the liberal world, criminals cannot be blamed for their own conduct - society is to be blamed.  We are all at fault. However, there is a greater hypocrisy at work here.  When a nut job in Tennessee (Jim Adkisson) kills several people in a church because "he hates liberalism", then it's the fault of conservatives. Yet, when the rhetoric of terrorists is echoed in our own country by liberals, why isn't that taken into account that maybe, just maybe, liberalism is encouraging terrorists to kill us?

5)  Why do so many liberals have so much confidence in the United Nations?  The United Nations - corrupt, anti-American and totally incompetent.  Yet, the UN provides a "feel good" opportunity for liberals.  They donate money to the poor in some third world country - which results in the money being wasted or stolen by corrupt governments.  Yet, it makes liberals feel good, but accomplishes nothing.

6)  The liberal obsession with gun control clearly shows the disdain that liberals feel towards "redneck conservatives" who like to hunt and posses weapons.  Because conservatives champion the right to bear arms, it must be bad.  And remember, in the liberal world, every benefit is given to the criminal element.  Honest citizens must not be allowed to protect themselves.  Yet criminals can  have the weapons and continue to commit the crimes.

7)  Liberals continue to support abortion, while protesting against the death penalty.  If there ever was a hypocrisy, here it is.  Liberals don't mind the slaughtering of unborn, innocent infants.  But just try to put a guilty mass-murderer, rapist or any other heinous criminal to death and they will protest till the sun goes down.  Sure, let the evil-doers survive while the innocent are killed.  Liberals view criminals as doing bad or inappropriate things, but it is not their fault.  Rather, it is the result of external factors or forces that they have no control over.  Here's where the chant "Islamic extremists want to kill us because we made them that way" comes in.  No one is to blame for their own actions.  Liberals don't believe in personal responsibility.

8)  Liberals have an inherent hostility towards religion.  That is because religion sets certain rules.  People are to behave in a good manner.  If they don't, they have sinned.  There are consequences.  Likewise, religion promotes the strength of marriage between a man and a woman.  The strength of family.  If you don't do good in your life, and don't follow the right path, you have sinned.   Liberals don't like things that make people feel bad.  And to believe in Jesus is something to be ridiculed about - how silly those who believe in a power greater than themselves are!  Conservatives believe there is a God, liberals believe they are God.

9) The value of personal freedom.  What the United States stands for.  However, we see day after day, "personal freedoms" that the liberals don't approve of are being slowly taken away.  Look at smoking for instance.  Our government has determined that private business owners - in Wisconsin - cannot let patrons smoke in their establishments.  Isn't that pushing the boundaries of "personal freedom"?  Or whether or not we can use trans-fats in cooking?  Since when did the government try to tell us how we can cook?   As long at the freedoms the government takes away are OK with liberals, then it's no big deal.  It's OK to have an abortion, but not OK to have a gun to protect yourself.  Go figure.

10)  And last, but not least, liberals want to deny jihad's eagerness to kill us all.  9/11?  Remember the reaction of many liberals:    Was it a plot by Bush/Cheney?  We're making a big deal out of nothing!!!  We deserved it!   Why did the terrorists want to kill us? - we need to understand them......

Yet, Jihadism is not a reaction to America's foreign policy.  It is a historic reading of the Koran as understood by many imams.  Jihad is one of Islam's authentic traditions.  They (the terrorists) seek to conquer and create a global Islamic empire.  Our survival depends on their defeat - plain and simple.  This will not be accomplished by negotiations.  Terrorists do not negotiate.  This will be accomplished by a courageous military force - the wars currently being waged in Iraq and Afghanistan.

To liberals, having to admit that the true face of Islamofacism would mean having to concede the necessity of phone surveillance, tough interrogations, common sense profiling, a reliance on the CIA and FBI as well as a strong military all things that would shatter the liberal world.  Everything I mentioned stands for what liberals have been taught to disdain.  The liberal message regarding the war in Iraq is - the United States must lose.

That is a clear and present danger to the United States.

When one puts selfishness and the quest for power over the love of country - like the Democrats and liberals are doing, the civilization as we know it will die.

...and again... the same old same old at Hemmer time. Same straw men, same attacks. The delusions continues. I pity you poor Amy. I really really do.

1. No, that is incorrect. That is a blanket generalization. Liberals and conservatives are both guilty of foolish behavior. I, a liberal, have no problem calling a liberal a liar if I think they are, or a conservative an honest person, if I think they are. Or vice versa. 2. No, that is incorrect. Again, a blanket generalization. Perhaps liberals simply treat the U.S. as the greatest country...right NOW. Countries begin and end, just like people. Countries also grow, and change. All types of people, liberal and conservative, want America to be better. 3. No, that is incorrect, and again, a blanket generalization. Some people reject out of hand the opinions of others who differ from them, or whose opinions differ from theirs. There are conservative and liberal sheep (the conservative ones wear Ferragamo, the liberal ones birkenstocks...). 4. Liberals possess a core attitude which opens everything to questioning, including their own position. Gimme a break, criminals deserve to be punished for their crimes! That doesn't mean we can't combat societal pressures that may lead people to due stupid, illegal things (drug treatment AND punishment). And conservatives are not to blame for Adkisson...but he was definitely influenced by such human bowel movements like Limbaugh and Coulter. Are they to blame? No. Do they inflluence? Ya think? 5. Liberals don't have much confidence in the UN; however, we do hope for enforceable international law, where every country, including the US, behaves itself (Yes, the US can misbehave...it's true). 6. I've fired a gun; I was taught by my Father In Law, who is a lifelong liberal, and a dead-eye. He owns many guns. My wife grew up shooting. Bear as many, lawful arms as you want. Go ahead. I dare you. 7. I support the right to abortion, and the death penalty. And I believe in personal responsibility. Your point is...? 8. Nope. Obama is religious, as is my catholic in-laws. It's only us Atheists who think religion is, well, unproven. We say "show us the money". Religion has nothing on deposit in the bank of credibility. 9. I absolutely value personal freedom. That's why I defend abortion rights, which, if rescinded, would make women second class citizens. I defend your right to speak like a poo-head about liberals. Absolutely. 10. Absurd. I support our right to attack Al Queda in Afghanistan, absolutely. You're statement that liberals say we deserved 9-11 is insulting and dumb, but I defend your right to be both. However, Jihad is defined by a large number of Muslims as simply the internal struggle all responsible people go through. Jihad does not threaten us. The survival of the U.S. depends on it remaining true to its principles. If we remain true, to separation of church and state, to free speech, to representative democracy in general, who can destroy us? If our way of life is so enviable (we certainly think so), then we have nothing to fear. People around the world will want to be like us. In fact, I seem to note a huge number coming here, both legally and illegally, every year. Why? To be an American, liberal or conservative. And to argue, on websites, and across neighborhood fences.

Amy- - I want to know, since we are the great satan, what is the final answer to get rid of liberals in the United States? You have more in common with the Taliban and their islamic Jihad, becuase of your strong christian crusade against liberals. Really, they hate liberals as much as you and I can prove it. Do you want to take the challenge?

LiberalHammer

Amy - Okay, I get it now # 7 is against me for sure, #'s 4 and # 8 are agianst MC. The others you will have to fill me in on. As far as the white Anglo-Saxon WASP USA that has been around since the Birth of our nation, it is changing, and has changed, and will continue to change because populations move between borders (poor to affluent, less rescoures-to-more, etc...). When these populations move they change the culture and language of the area the move to. You know how much Waukesha has changed, there are so many more Mexicans than there were 15 years ago. I know I have lived it. The Mexicans cut our lawns, landscape the land, cook our food, and clean our mess, they are the USA as much as you are. Culture and civilization are two different things. Many Mexicans are devote and Catholic (much more religious than many white liberals). I am agasint religious hatred, both islamic and christian and jewish and hindi, all religious hatred is wrong. The world is changing, western culture in the USA is changing, you better learn to speak spanish, I wish I could. Read more History.

BillyJ

@Amy: amen sister! Now this is the best blog ever! Intellectual knockout at its best. Victor, you obviously know little about Jihad and where the terrorists are and who attacked us. This is what makes Amy's post so real but still cannot be argued truthfully by a liberal. It looks like you didn’t read any of the books others told you to so you could debate more fashionably. Sucks to be a liberal, doesn’t it.
August 2, 2008 7:28 AM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

BillyJ:  Thank you.  I heard once that "liberalism is nothing more than childlike emotionalism applied to adult issues".  Therefore, liberals cannot deal with complex issues unless they are stripped away to "nice" or "mean" feelings.  Problem solving with reason and facts? - not the liberal way.  Look at how they handle themselves in the political arena.   They continue to advocate doing things that will make them "feel good" with little thought that the policies they promote may not work.

Victor:  As for blanket generalizations - what do you think conservatives have been putting up with for years?  "Mean-spirited, cold, uncaring, bigoted, racist, homophobes,  etc."  But remember, it's OK to trash conservatives, our President, and country in the liberal world.  Day after day after day.    And the beat goes on.

jmark

How does your condemnation of all liberals differ philosophically from the condemnation of all Americans by Islamic fundamentalists, and the condemnation of all Jews by the Nazis? Your system of belief appears to have the same fascist underpinnings. Perhaps concentration camps for liberals would put an end to this grave menace confronting America.
August 2, 2008 7:55 AM

Victor Ponelis

@ BillyJ: You are applauding a blog that denigrates a whole class of folks in a blanket manner, a blog that attacks without evidence other than name calling. Saying Amy's post is real and cannot be argued truthfully by a liberal means that either you misread what she and I wrote, or you can't read and someone read it to you, or you have serious blinders on and do what a lot of people do...see what they want to see. It's awesome to be a liberal...or a conservative...as long as that liberal or conservative argues logically and with evidence. @Amy: what some do is not what I do. You ignore what I say and dredge up irrelevancies. Trashing people, or the president, without evidence, is wrong. Bush has provided a lot of evidence, though...and I had such hope in the beginning, with his promises of compassionate conservatism. He sure revealed his colors in New Orleans...
August 2, 2008 8:03 AM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

jmark:  My condemnation of liberals is not similar to the persecution of the Jews by the Nazi or Americans by Islamic fundamentalists.  The Nazis and the terrorists wanted to exterminate people for just existing and being what they were.  I am not suggesting we exterminate liberals - rather, I am suggesting we protect ourselves from their damaging rhetoric and beliefs that are harmful to our nation.  If enough people stand up and say "enough" - and promote the greatness of America and it's people, we will be on the right track.  Until that time, I will continue to stand up for our country in the face of all the naysayers.  We need to keep America strong, not weaken it so one group of people "feels good".

Victor:  Bush "revealed his colors in New Orleans"???  What a joke.  Can't you do any better?  Democratic governor, Democratic Mayor - corrupt city and state.  The people of New Orleans had poor leadership from  the get-go, as well as a culture that taught them to rely on the government for everything.  To blame Bush for New Orleans is false.  By the way, did you know that 3 years later, some people who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina are still living in hotels on the government dime?  Now, if they learned long ago that it helps to look for a job, earn a living and accept some responsibility, they may not still be living in a hotel, with no ambition to go elsewhere.  A perfect example of liberalism run amok.  No personal responsibility for anything!  What a way to live.

Amy & BillyJ - If liberals and I quote, "That (liberals)is a clear and present danger to the United States." What should be done with us? Write a blog on how to get rid of the danger of liberal? Also, if the USA becomes mroe liberal, western civilization will still live on in Europe and many other countries. I think yor worried about our culture.
August 2, 2008 8:52 AM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

LiberalHammer:  Thanks for the idea.  Maybe I will indeed write a blog on how I think we could put an end to liberalism.

And yes, I am worried about our culture - one that continues to sink lower and lower due to .....liberalism!

Jim Hayett

Victor…I have to agree with Amy and Billj. Your last comment is most evident. Bush has not given anyone reasons to trash him as much as people like you and the media have. That garbage comes from the mainstream media and the lies that brainwash so many liberals. And it’s very obvious you get your news from papers like the NY Times or Milw JS. You have no idea what happened in New Orleans. If you did, you wouldn’t have made that statement. Go look up what and where the corruption came from and who didn’t help save those from the hurricane. The Gov, and especially the Mayor, will be good starting points Amy, very well done. Name calling? Truth in words hurts liberals. They should read some of the hate letters we get from liberals. Name calling that my wife and I get from them makes this post look like Romper Room!

The Nazis didn't distinguish between moral and immoral Jews, nor do the Islamofascists distinguish between the moral and immoral Americans, and you don't distinguish between moral and immoral liberals. You are self righteously promoting animosity towards the entire lot in the name of God and country. Sounds like fascism to me. What say ye Frau Hemmer?
August 2, 2008 9:39 AM

Jeff Blackwell

This is jargon. #1 is pure irony. Do you even know that your use of the terms "jihad" and "jihadist" bestows respect, glory and honor on terrorists? This willingness to parrot meaningless right-wing radio jargon, and to recklessly use language of violence and condemnation is why the "Conservative" movement in the U.S. is collapsing. The world has changed and you can never change it back. Conservatives took their shot, and they have failed miserably. Two failing/failed wars, an economy in free-fall, the greatest concentration of wealth in the history of this country, government spying on its own citizens, corporate malfeasance and tax-avoidance rampant, record high oil prices, world-wide disrespect and the betrayal of every value that this country worked so hard to establish - this is the legacy of Reagan and Bush/Cheney. We have already experienced the downfall of America. The Earth will be a better place when this country takes a position of cooperation, and Americans shed their hubris and accept their rights and responsibilities as citizens of the world. Just because you were born here, that does not make America the greatest nation on Earth.

"Liberalism will be the downfall of America" I thought it was terrorists or Iraq or Iran. Same old same old from Amy.
August 2, 2008 12:05 PM

Jim Hayett

Jeff...each day you surprise me more and more. You don’t know the word jihad and how its meaning fits into all of this. You obviously have no clue about the Qur'an (or Koran) that I suggested you read before you make comments like this. The only reason liberalism is alive to this day is people like you get your brain washed and it feels good to go along and bash God and country. So long as it fits your ideology as to how the world should be. Especially America. Unfortunately, the good in this country don’t see it that way and the others, like you, are bamboozled over the liberal media. I’m embarrassed to say I was once so gullible to be sucked into the “hate America” liberal scene. But I woke up and it fells real good to be able to love my country and stand behind her qualities and her mistakes. Try it sometime, it will make you a much happier person that what you currently are. Or at least seem to be.

Same old same old....if you don't like what you hear, don't read my blogs. As for repeating myself - I just am following an example out of the Democratic playbook - say something over and over and people actually may believe it.  In my case, however, I tell the truth, while the Democrats just create garbage to further their cause in their quest for power.

August 2, 2008 6:23 PM

Amy, The truth is universal. The fact that the earth revolves around the sun is an indisputable truth recognized by all reasonably intelligent people the world over. When you say that you tell the truth, you are merely telling that which is consistent with your ideology. If your truths were universally accepted there would be one God and one religion, not thousands.

jmark:  Sorry, I don't agree.  I have often written how liberalism is damaging America in many blogs besides this one.  I have used facts to back up my claims.  I have also made observations and given my opinions, which is what having a blog allows one to do.  Which point or points in this blog don't you understand?  I'd be happy to explain them in greater detail to you.

If you don't like my message, read MC Pickard, Jeff Blackwell or Victor Ponelis to put your mind at ease.

Amy - You don't use facts or evidence properly, becuase your sole purpose is to discredit any POV that does not fit into your liberal hating view. You hate liberals becuase you've been told to hate liberals. You demonize us becuse you know nothing else. You dehumanize liberals and other people becuase it makes it easier to scapegoat them and may i use a school term, pick-on-them. In a sense you and conservatives that use this form of attack, while seperating and immunizing yourselves with this telling quote from you, "Conservatives, on the other hand, just by virtue of being conservatives, are mean at best and evil at worst." See how you made yourself a victim? When did conservatives become the school yard bully? You've been taught to see yourselves as victims, and you assume this gives you the right to act and de-mean any idea or group of people as you see fit. Here's a fact, your human and so are we. We all suffer from the affliction mortality. I love, hate, get angery, cry, sympathize,etc.... I'll have to take issue with your premise. You know what's also destroing our country, people such as yourself that have blinded themselves to reality and moan and complain and see themselves as victims of a vast liberal conspiracy. People such as yourself (liberals included) who brand the mantel of victim on their forehead, allowing themselves to act like the monsters they say they are fighting. I leave you with this quote from Friedrich Nietzsche, because it sums up what happened to this conservative movement in this country and what it became after 9/11: "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
August 3, 2008 10:58 AM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

LiberalHammer:  I don't use facts "properly"?  What would that be - to adjust them accordingly to what liberals want to hear?  Sorry, won't happen on my blog site.

I don't hate liberals.  I hate liberal beliefs.

Also, conservatives have been called every vile name in the book by liberals for so long I've become numb.  I do not feel like a "victim" at all for being called "mean"  or "evil" or any thing else.  However,  if that is how you wish to describe me - as a "victim", go ahead.  Liberals love victims, so maybe you'll love me....

And as for inspiring, thought-provoking quotes, how about the following from "boycottliberalism.com":

"Liberals believe that if it feels good - do it. Conservatives believe that if it is good - do it!"

"Have you noticed who criticizes America and George Bush the most- terrorists, dictators, France, defense lawyers and liberals!"

"It is true that the overwhelming majority of the youth in America are liberal. What are the characteristics of youth? They are inexperience, not sophisticated, immaturity, emotional and uninformed. You only lose these characteristics through time and experience, which is also when you become more conservative."  (And I like to add, if you are still a liberal when you are middle-age, you are in your second childhood....)

"What do Liberals defend most? Gay marriage, higher taxes, welfare, abortions, preferential treatment based on race, the United Nations determining the defense of the U.S. and dictators. Is this the America that you want?"

"Throughout the course of history and still today- conservatives have sacrificed their party for the good of the country- liberals have sacrificed the good of the country for the sake of their party."

"Liberals protested the war in Iraq, because they said innocent people will die. Why aren't liberals protesting driving? More innocent people died driving their cars than died in that war. I would state that freedom is a cause worth dying for and driving is not!"  (I'd venture further with this one to ask why don't liberals protest the killing of innocent....babies???)

That last quote is one of my favorite, by the way.  I'm outta here, the day is too nice to spend typing on a computer and we've got friends coming over.  Till tomorrow... enjoy the rest of your weekend and God Bless America!

Amy - "As for blanket generalizations - what do you think conservatives have been putting up with for years? "Mean-spirited, cold, uncaring, bigoted, racist, homophobes, etc." But remember, it's OK to trash conservatives, our President, and country in the liberal world. Day after day after day. And the beat goes on." So...you're defending your blanket generalizations with the reasoning that conservatives have also been victims of generalizations? This is undoubtedly true, but you also just agreed that you make arguments with blanket generalizations. Please stop. You can't classify people as "group x" and "group y" and expect to judge individuals based on your broad and generalizing definitions. Hasn't your support for McCain been a relatively new phenomenon (he doesn't really fit in your conservative label) but he is the republican candidate? That's ok. People pick and choose what they like regardless of labels. How many Buffet Catholics do you know? Perhaps identifying themselves as Catholic but disagreeing with the church on one or a few issues - divorce, birth control, abortion, the death penalty, etc. They pick and choose, yet call themselves Catholic. In the same frame of thought, your statement that you hate liberlism shouldn't draw comparisons to Nazism. That's level-jumping as well. Also, it's very close-minded to tell people not to read your blog if they don't agree with you. Don't use LCL for a blog site if you don't want people who don't share your views commenting on your posts.
August 4, 2008 1:28 PM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

Betula:  Even though I am using "blanket generalizations" in regards to liberals, many of the generalizations DO fit the liberal mindset to a certain degree. Of course there are extreme liberals out there, as there are moderates, and maybe even borderline liberal-conservatives.  However, the loudest voices our country tends to hear are from the extreme liberals - the ultra-lefties that are currently in position of leadership in our government like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and many others - who are trying to twist the arms of moderate liberals to go along with their socialist programs and ideas.   Barack Obama fits into the category of an extreme liberal.  If you don't believe me, check his voting records -from the time he was in the Illinois Senate to the short time he has been a U.S. Senator.

I realize every conservative does not fit the mold of an extremist, either.  Some liberals don't realize that simple point.  But it is my belief that the liberal message in itself is bad for our country.  To briefly summarize:  the liberal message is very representative of an adolescent attitude - let the government take care of people  with food, shelter and free money if they mess up - reinforcing beliefs in "entitlement", but the government needs to stay out of personal business - like the right to have an abortion.  (Doesnt' that sound like a teenager living at home under their parents roof?)  Liberals also seem to view money as the solution to every problem.  Higher taxes are needed, according to liberals, when we are at war, when we aren't at war, when the economy is good, when the economy is not good....  It never ends and the liberals NEVER offer any other solutions to any real problems.  And through in a bit of anti-Americanism in there, and you have the liberal messge.    Lefties may love everything about the liberal message, like it, or be lukewarm towards it - but it is still a liberal agenda that needs to be addressed.  I cannot write a blog focusing on persons a,b,c,d,e,f,g, etc.  based on one, two, three or more differences each may hold in regards to their varying degree of liberalism.  It would be impossible.

I only tell people not to read my blog when they continue to snicker and remark how it is "the same old stuff" and "blah blah blah - heard it all before" and how mean, stupid, delusional,  etc. I am.  Then  I just ask why continue to read it?  And the people who always comment on my posts usually say the "same old stuff" in response anyhow - which is nothing - no facts, no truths, just fluff and liberal-speak.  And don't forget the f-bombs and other nasty words, which demonstrate the fact that liberals have to hide behind foul language when they have little else to say.  When liberals cannot argue the facts, they resort to insults.  If they get so frustrated reading my stuff, I try to end their frustration by telling them not to tune it.  So in a way, give me some credit, Betula - I'm trying to be helpful!

LiberalHammer

Amy - The last quote is another failed dishonest attempt to equate and validate an agressive war with that of deaths relating to cars. Sorry, not buying it. As far as reading your blog, I still will. I enjoy it very much. We still have the 1st admendmant for teh time being. If I insulted you I aplogize, but saying that liberals are destroying the US is baselss, and I will hold you to what you say. Hating liberals as people is not that much of a stretch people as well? Obviously, Jim Adkisson could only take so much and he took action and found his solution through murder. The non-stop "liberals are the cause of all problems, hate liberals, liberals are terrorists, liberals defend terrorism" message that has been repeated over and over again since 1990 by the mainstream right-wing media is the problem. As did Timothy Mcveigh, the anthrax killer, as well as all those murderers of abortion doctors, just to name a frew. So Amy this is my last question on this subject, when you accuse liberals of this, "liberalism is encouraging terrorists to kill us." I am a liberal, how is this not a personal attack on me. Obviously when people insult conservatives you take it as an insult. Prove it. I want names & actions and I want proof that liberals are aiding and abetting islamofascist terrorism in the United States. I want proof that liberals have changed the bill of rights, have tortured conservatives, or spied on americans, murdered in the name of their philsophy and I want proof that what my voice, my speech is destroying the united states and helping terrorsts to kill us? I want proof backed up by evidence, researched, and not some ranting opinion. If you can do this, free of seething remarks, free of anti-liberal dogma, free of hatred agaisnt liberals, free of rhetoric, with some good cold objectivity throughout the context of your blog, then I guess I might have to rethink my liberal positions.

LiberalHammer:  "failed dishonest attempt" - how so?  All I offered was a quote comparing how concerned liberals are that innocent Iraqi lives will be lost in the Iraq war, yet are unconcerned about innocent American lives being lost in car accidents.  I noticed you did not mention my reference little concern of  innocent babies being killed via abortion....but that's a whole other topic of discussion.

And LiberalHammer, liberals are destroying the United States, slowly but surely.  Conservative are working hard to continue to put the brakes on.  In some areas, we are triumphing, in others it's a close call.

Mainstream right-wing media!!!???!!! - good one, LiberalHammer :) - I has quite a laugh at that.  If we had a mainstream right-wing media, our country wouldn't have half the problems we do now!

So, LiberalHammer, I want to thank you for the idea for my next blog.  Although this blog did give broad examples of how liberals are damaging America, I will go further in detail with a follow-up post.   How the liberals are supporting the terrorists.  How the liberal mindset, programs and actions are setting up America to fail.  How the liberals show their disdain for our country.    And - last but not least - what steps can be taken to assure they do not succeed in destroying the United States and what it stands for.

Now, give me a few days, since I am a bit busy with our new puppy and kid activities.  We've also got a few social things going on this week, but I'll try to write something soon to satisfy your questions!

Amy - About time you stepped up to the plate to take on the liberal problem. I anxiously await the results.

LiberalHammer:  "about time I stepped up to the plate to take on the liberal problem?"  - I feel I have been doing that all along - repeatedly.  With facts, with opinions, with observations.  However, I do promise to do yet another blog concerning what is wrong with liberalism and how we can protect our country from it.  I will try to be as specific as possible, so maybe you will see the evil of your ways and convert to conservatism.  That will be my goal - to save you from yourself!!!

There has always been (and probably will always be) two major political parties in America vying for power. If you want to get rid of liberalism Amy, what would you choose to replace it? (and you must choose something because there's a word for a single-party system: dictatorship)
August 5, 2008 4:37 PM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

Ellen:  Liberalism has overtaken what used to be the Democratic Party.  The Democratic Party of JFK's time still stood behind our country - remember "As not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?".  Those words ring hollow for today's Democratic Party.  They only say "what can my country do for me?".  I'd like to see the Democratic Party of old, that still supported whomever was President and the United States.  Also, aside from the Democratic Party and Republican Party, we also have the Libertarian Party - one of which whose views I agree with a great deal - lower taxes, less government more individual freedoms.  Too bad they don't have a huge following, so their chances of ever winning a presidential election are slight. And don't forget the "Green Party" - kind of in tune with liberalism, in my estimation, but maybe a bit more wacky....

Wasn't the biggest "what can my country do for me" system (social security and welfare) set up by a pre-JFK Democrat (the also lauded FDR)?

Paul Nolan

wow, amazing!!! I like how you broke this down into 10 easily identifiable ironic points---was the number 10 intentional, like the 10 Commandments, or was that just irony as well? Instead of wasting a lot of time typing, I just wanted to touch on #7 and the "hypocracy" of it all. Can you help me understand how a liberal who is pro-choice and anti-death penalty is considered a hypocrit, but when someone like yourself is clearly pro-life and pro-death penalty, they are not considered a hypocrit? I just can't make the connection Oh... since Jihad is an authentic Islamic tradition and our survival depends on their defeat, when can we start the killings???? I'll try and come up with a list of Muslims in Merton so you and Jim can get started on your "ethnic/religious cleansing" It's such a shame that Jesus taught us to love and accept one another, but his message doesn't seem to have reached you. I hope your involvement in the Merton PTO and substitute teaching is minimal, as your racist views don't have any place in our public education system. Oh, when you mean that you'd like to see the Democratic party of old, you surely must be referring to the Southern Democrats, pre Civil War, right? You're seriously off your rocker woman--please get some help!

Ask not what your dictatorship can do for, but what... Repeat after me: I, Frau Hemmer, pledge allegiance to the motherland, and to the extermination of the liberal menace for which it stands. Sieg Heil!
August 6, 2008 6:49 AM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

Paul Nolan:  I am pro-life for innocent unborn babies.  Some criminals commit crimes so henious and horrific that they warrant the death penalty.  They are not innocents in any sense of the word.  On the other hand, liberals champion the lives of such human scum, yet could care less that innocent babies are murdered everyday.

jmark:  You really like the "Frau" stuff don't you?  Should I consider that an ethnic slur on your part, or are you just trying to be funny?  And somehow I don't equate my beliefs that America is the best country in the world and we must do all we can to keep it that way with somehow being a "Nazi" from your distorted viewpoint.  When liberal rhetoric blends in with terrorist rhetoric - I take offense and stand up for what I see is an incredible wrong.  Borderline treason.  If you wish to shrug it off, go ahead.  I won't.

Does the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" have a footnote that I missed, saying "except scum...go ahead and kill scum"?
August 6, 2008 10:11 AM

Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

Ellen:  Actually, the rights of the state to execute criminals is not absolutely forbidden by the Commandment:  "Thou shalt not kill".  Society as a whole must have lawful methods of protecting itself from those members who choose to commit horrendous crimes against man.  The commandments recognize this, even in the case of war - that governments cannot be denied the right of lawful self-defense once all peace efforts have failed.

And yes, you may think it's horrible that I call murderers, rapists, and child molestors "scum" - but that is what they are.  Boo-hoo.

Amy - So your conservative politics are wrapped in christian religious l beleifs. Do think that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are trumped by the christian bible?

What a great title! Not only does it make a biting social statement it stabs truly at the heart of what is wrong with America. Great job! A liberal is not necessarily a democrat but democrats are consistently liberal. Liberals promote ideas contrary to that found in the bible. It's is if they seek out they weak behavior and immoral values to make it their platform. Gay marriage for example. Bush's failure in office are entirely liberal in nature. McCain's weakness is his liberal tendencies. I could not agree more ... Liberalism is the greatest threat to America has seen since The Jamestown Colony. http://concretepumpingadvice.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=823&SearchTerms=thanksgiving Excerpt: "That's right. Long before Karl Marx was even born, the Pilgrims had discovered and experimented with what could only be described as socialism. And what happened? It didn't work! Surprise, surprise, huh? What Bradford and his community found was that the most creative and industrious people had no incentive to work any harder than anyone else, unless they could utilize the power of personal motivation! " Liberalism kills the American Spirit. It dulls an otherwise sharp edge. Our public school system, for example, has produced scrap for decades. Generational welfare is a shining example liberalism is far more costly to this country than it is worth. Just about everywhere you find welfare payments, you will also find illegal drugs use, crime and rampant sex ultimately paid for by the taxpayers. The dumbing down of America was accomplished via liberal ideology. Liberals sent oil men packing from American soil 40 years ago. Now we are faced with the high cost of energy. Liberals talked the government into biofuels and contrary to our constitution, our government invested in biofuel from corn. Government cannot screw with a free market without consequences. Farmers and humans are now bearing the expense of a falsely created economy causing starvation around the world and bankrupting farmers. Another great example of liberalism hurting by helping. Liberals have corrupted our schools. Liberals created a shunt preventing neighbors from helping one another by enacting social programs to replace the church and community. A very bad reality. Liberals are proponents of appeasement with our enemies. Radical Islam existed in Thomas Jefferson's day and the liberals then were just a big a problem as the liberals today...if not more so. Liberal judges subvert the rule of law. The best way to collapse a civilization is the absence of justice. Liberal are proponents of global warming. The biggest hoax ever played on a people. All based on 30 years of data. Only a liberal would believe man kind and science knows what the temperature of the Earth should be at any given moment in time. America's success and freedom is exactly because of the faith it's people placed in God and the civilization it built upon the foundation outlined in the bible. As the liberals push Americans away from our traditional moral base, expect to see the nation fall before your eyes! America is becoming rotten like the core of a pumpkin. Liberalism is the sloppy viscous mess you find inside an otherwise good looking pumpkin.

Amy, WAY TO GO!!!! I couldn't agree more. Liberals are very accepting and open-minded as they promote themselves, unless you disagree with them on an issue, then they turn ugly on you. Is it me, or does it seem like all that is good is usually attacked by the liberals, and all that is immoral and not good for society, is embraced by them? Case and point, the ACLU. To understand the mindset of a liberal, it is important that I share a true story with you. I was driving one afternoon past a University. The car in front of me was being driven by what appeared to be a college aged female who was making a turn into the University. On the back of her car she had two bumper stickers, one read "Save the Whales", the other read, "Pro-Choice". I think people can make their own minds up on this one. To me however, this epitomized the logic liberal brains seem to function on.....it is illogical. I guarantee, if a group of people rounded up all the pregnant whales and ripped the baby whale "fetus" out of the Mother, these Pro-ABORTIONISTS would go crazy to protect the baby whales. Too bad they don't have the same respect for human life as well. And lets not fool anybody by candy coating it by calling it Pro-Choice, it's Pro-Death, which is the opposite of Pro-Life. Which side do you believe God is on with this issue? And if you don't believe in God or are not sure, wouldn't one want to err on the side of caution in case they do come face to face with God some day? It's okay to have homosexual clubs in school, but not prayer groups....I can go on and on. The fact is, these people are illogical, misguided and many just plain uneducated and spout off what they hear from the liberal media. So, trying to convince them to think logical presents a challenge all in itself. Their minds don't work that way. Just about every country has been a super power at one time since the creation of this Earth. If we continue to allow the moral foundation of our country to be watered down by liberal thinking, this country is finished. Read what happened to the Roman empire, the strongest of empires, which also had the longest of peace time of any nation. Those who don't learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. God Bless America!
