It's Hemmer Time

Is Barack Obama a traitor or just incompetent?

By Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

After almost 100 days in office, it is clear that President Obama has a very ultra-liberal vision for America.

He is guiding America away from its status as a  world leader, to that of being an equal or lesser partner with every other country on the planet.  This is a very desirable position for many Democrats and lefties, who disdain America for being what many call a "super power."  The "blame America first" crowd and those who are anti-American love what Obama is turning our country into.  Obama is ripping apart the very foundations our country was created upon.

America has achieved a strong leadership position in the world in a very short historical time.  In just a few centuries, America has prospered.  Where other countries have stagnated for thousands of years,  and some are still back in the middle ages, we have industrialized, invented things through the creativity of our citizens, built the strongest defense systems to keep our world safe,  grown, improved the lives of millions, and contributed to the overall well-being of the planet and other nations through our help and generosity. (Did you know that America is the most generous country in the world?)   Yet, many do not agree that a strong and powerful America is the "right" America.   They confuse leadership with arrogance.  Why has America always been known as the "land of the free, home of the brave?"  And why do we suddenly find ourselves apologizing to everyone and anyone who will listen, via  words from our own President, for all our unfounded "wrongs?"  Some say Obama talks so eloquently that he can even make "America sucks" sound good.  I, for one, am sick of it.

Our President is one of those people wishing to change America into the utopia that the left desires.   Obama has morphed from the moderate he ran as while campaigning to an ultra-liberal, and he even makes Bill Clinton look like a good conservative.  Obama is guiding us towards weaker national security, bigger government - government like we have never seen before, less individual freedom, more government take-overs of major businesses,  and, of course, higher taxes (ala "spreading the income").  And don't forget, if you do well  and are successful at work or owning a business, you will be punished!  You must have more and more of your earnings taken away simply because there will  always be someone out there who has less!  In the world of liberalism, that is simply not FAIR!    In short order, Obama's dislike of our capitalist system is becoming quite evident.   We are indeed headed towards what many liberals desire - socialism.

The question was recently posed to me on whether or not I consider Obama a "traitor."  In the sense that he has made our enemies - like al-Queda - openly aware of the U.S. Military interrogation techniques, as well as given them information on supposed withdrawal dates from Iraq, and seems intent on punishing many who were doing their jobs to protect our country, one really has to wonder.  Obama's actions do look like they are aiding the enemy.  Yet, what is Obama's intent?  Is he just an incompetent liberal, striving to achieve the ultimate liberal goal of re-inventing America to be little more than the same as other countries?  Does he actually think that is a good thing?  Knocking us off our pedestal as a world power, because the left doesn't see that as somehow being a desirable position?  If that is the case, I would say Obama is not a traitor.  He is doing what he believes in.  There are more than 50% of Americans who don't agree with Obama, and I am one of them.  And that number seems to be growing, which is a sign that many people have finally caught on to what Obama is all about.

Hindsight, of course, is 20-20.  Americans were privy to Obama's beliefs before the election.  Obama had many friendships - and most of them were with people who were known America-bashers, domestic terrorists,  as well as anti-white racists. Yet, during the election cycle, we were told to look the other way, that such friendships didn't matter.  That these decade-long associations weren't an issue.  Well, obviously, such friendships should have given us major clues as to what Obama thinks of America and how he wants to change it.  Too late now, Obama is President.  To borrow a quote from an anti-American, racist friend of Obama's for twenty-plus years, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright:  "The chickens have come home to roost."

As a conservative, I do wonder if Obama should be called a traitor or just incompetent.  I'm sure that many of the ultra-lefties out there think what Obama is doing is just wonderful.  I find that frightening.

100 days in office and look at how far our country has already fallen.  Not for the better, in my view.  Weaker national security, warm and fuzzy handshakes with our enemies,  a trillion-dollar spending plan with no way to pay for it, and numerous assaults on our Constitution that the media conveniently refuses to point out or report on (such as the U.S. Census falling under the control of the White House for the first time in history, which is unprecedented).

In all of Obama's speeches, does he ever talk about what a great country America is?  Does he ever speak with pride about all of America's accomplishments, and why so many people are trying to get into this country, whether legally or illegally?  America presents a beacon of hope to many.  We have freedoms (at least for a while) that few countries are able to enjoy.  We have free will.  We have choices and opportunities.  It would serve Barack Obama well to remember all the good of America, rather than to continue to point out the bad.  By focusing on the perceived ills, Obama seems to be legitimizing his attempts to tear down our country to rebuild it as the next France.  Why?  Why do we want to morph into another country?  What is wrong with America?

Please, President Obama, tell us what you like about our country, other than the fact you got elected.  As for being a traitor or just an incompetent leader, the jury is still out.  Either way, as  I've stated before, 2012 cannot get here fast enough.

Wow. Truly I'm stunned. A traitor? Is this some kind of joke? George W. Bush lied to us to get us into a war there was no reason to fight. Incompetent? At least Obama can speak the English language properly, unlike his dullard predecessor. Your own state went blue. According to Wikipedia, Lake county is 97.81% White. You don't speak for the majority of Americans. You speak for a fearful, ignorant minority. The sooner you face the facts, the better off we'll all be: there's a reason conservatives lost in 2008. Instead of running down our commander-in-chief, how about coming up with some constructive new ideas? Until then, quit spouting off this dribble, go back to your white-bread suburb and rejoin Nixon's "silent majority."

jah redd:  Good.  You should be stunned.  And re-read my post. I am not calling Obama a traitor. I've just provided my observations on what is happening in our country.  And in many cases, I do believe I speak for the "silent majority."  But, after the strong showing at the recent Tea Parties across the country, we may not be silent for much longer because we realize the fate of our country is at stake.

And George Bush did not lie to get us into a war in Iraq.  This unfounded leftie talking point is repeated so often, with no truth behind it.  I'm sick of it.

abcabc:  Unless you have something to say regarding the post, don't send in another comment.

Of course it's incompetency. That seems to be a prerequisite to even run for the office. Is the attention span of this country that short to not remember how every president in recent history has backpedaled on their promises to the people to allow the government to take more and more control over our freedoms? It sickens me how this country has become so consumed with this us vs them idealology. How my guy does it right but yours dosen't. Niether of the two major parties gives a damn about freedoms and liberty all they want is more power. Since the end of world war 2 we have abandoned our isolationist ways and have tried to keep other countries in line with our ideals. Yes America is the most generous country in the world we give food money and plenty of weaponry away to whomever will toe our line. Where did Saddam get his WMDs from ...rummy was the man to shake his hand and give him what he asked for(though he was hoping they would be used against the Iranians and not on the Kurds). i do love this country and the ideals it was founded on although it seems few really even know what those ideals are anymore. It would seem to me that modern day American government has become a sick perversion of what it was designed to be. To quote the Cato institutes essays on liberty..power is like fire it warms scorches or destroys according as it watched provoked or increased,it is as dangerous as it is useful , it is apt to break its bounds..

Your post makes you sound bitter! Does that work?

Amy, I think both traitor and incompetent. To sell out my country from a man that may not even be a legal citizen should be the biggest wake-up call to everyone. Unless you are a liberal who also hates America. Maybe Jihad Redd can give us some proof to the Bush lies? No more "I think" garbage.

Carl Hicks:  I actually agree with you for the most part, although I do believe that the Repubican party does put a priority on national security.

ABCABC:  You need to elaborate more.  So what if my post makes me sound bitter?  I'm not bitter - I'm angry and frightened at the direction I see America going.  Rather than what you think about me, what do YOU think about my post?

BillyJ:  Obama is a legal citizen, I don't think that is an issue.  And he may think he is doing the right thing by weakening America and trying to cozy up to those who despise us.  In the long run, though, I think he is in for a surprise.  No matter how much people wish for peace and to get along - which most of us do hope for - there will always be those who do not.  There will always be enemies.  Utopia is a dream.  We have to deal with reality and the reality is that you cannot reason with terrorists.  Why does the left insist Obama give up fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan?  What do they think will happen?  That terrorists will suddenly not want to kill us?  No.  It doesn't work that way.  That is a sad reality.  And America must make all the efforts it can to fight and defend itself against terrorists - including using harsh interrogation methods.

Amy…it would do the world good if our president would stand up for the USA. Whether liberals like it or not, the USA is the world leader. However, for our own president to show this dislike and weakness only harms our allies and emboldens our enemies. These are not mistakes a US president can make. Not during a time when a religion wants to destroy all that don’t believe. I not only cannot understand why Obama can’t see this, I can’t figure out how liberals strong see this either. Is it that difficult to admit we made a huge mistake for voting in a president who has such dislike for our country? Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That seems to be missing from the liberal dictionary.

Obama is going to tap the God-sent unearthly terror of the earth dwellers to build his world empire so he rules the world. http://www.beastobama.com/byhiswords/worldempire.html

I suppose this revelation by Maj. Paul Burney, a United States Army psychiatrist, is just another leftie talking point: “A large part of the time we were focused on trying to establish a link between Al Qaeda and Iraq and we were not being successful.” As higher-ups got more “frustrated” at the inability to prove this connection, the major said, “there was more and more pressure to resort to measures” that might produce that intelligence." Wake up Amy. Your guy tried every trick in the book in order to deceive us into war.

Yes the Grabbers Of Power do prioritze security , but at what cost to our rights. A U.S. citizen can now be detained indefinitely based only upon suspicion of being an enemy of the state, the NSA can now wiretap and data mine for that same reason. As far as your points that "made our enemies - like al-Queda - openly aware of the U.S. Military interrogation techniques". these techniques are nothing new or secret nor effective at obtaining any useful information. ...given them information on supposed withdrawal dates from Iraq. Please don't confuse Iraq with the "war on terror" they can only be equated by the fact that we are fighting against muslims. Saddam was a brutal dictator but far too paranoid to allow extremist groups to operate within his borders and with us maintaning the "no fly zones" over his country post gulf war he was only a threat to his own people. Al Qaeda in Iraq did not exist before we invaded, it was the power vacuum left by us after dismantling the Iraqi government that let them in. Ironically before our regime change there Iraq was one of the few "safe" havens for christians to live in the middle east(well as long as they didn't say anything about Saddam) We unfortunately may never be able to leave now (in the midset of stopping terrorism) since we have opened that country up for extremists to take over. As Colin Powell had said "you break it , you bought it". Since now more than ever many Iraqis want to kill Americans. If you want to know where I came up with that last statement read "The Forever War" by Dexter Filkens a reporter who spent many years in Iraq and had to ,upon several occassions, deny he was an American to Iraqis he was interviewing because they wanted to find an American to kidnap or kill. Had we dedicated even a fraction of the resouces used in Iraq to fighting al qaeda in Afghanastan we would have made considerable progress at squelching terrorist activities. I personally don't feel Iraq was as much an action of a preemptive was as much as an act to perpetuate it.

Jmark…I see you are still very recalcitrant and in need of more history lessons. In the book, “Disinformation” there are 20 pages of the unarguable connection between Saddam and al Qaeda. You don’t want to accept this because Dan Rather or Kati Curic didn’t tell you so. “Photographs taken in Jan 2000 place Ahmed Shakir at key planning meetings with al Qaeda for the bombing of the USS Cole.” Pictures jmark!!! Just like the videos and the pictures of Clinton, Gore, Kerry all saying “Saddam must go.” “Mike Scheuer, former head of the bin Laden unit at the CIA and a Bush hater, admitted in his book the connection between bin Laden and Iraq intelligence agents.” “Colin Powell admitted that CIA intell. found that bin Laden met the director of Iraqi mukhabarat, Iraq’s external intell. Agency.” That’s only on quarter of one page!! Why do you keep running from the truth? If it hurts so much, join the ranks of honesty for a change. It feels good jmark.
