Tax cuts "for the rich"

By Amy L. Geiger-Hemmer

Here's a bit of information that debunks the myth that "Bush's tax cuts are only for the rich", as put forth by the mainstream media, Democrats and other liberals.  You can find this information at:  www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html

Taxes under Clinton - 1999:                    Taxes under Bush - 2008:

Single making 30K - tax $8,400                  Single making 30K - tax $4,500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000                Single making 50K - tax $12,500

SIngle making 75K - tax $23,250                Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800               Married making 60K - tax $9,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000               Married making 75K - tax $18,750

Married  making 125K - tax $38,750            Married making 125K - tax $31,250

Looks to me as though Bush's tax cuts have helped out more than the rich.... looks like they have helped out the middle class, too!!!   Bush actually has allowed the middle class to keep more of their own hard-earned money and spend it how they wish!!!   Why the mainstream media and liberals don't bother to point out this bit of information is troublesome.  After all, isn't the media unbiased?  Aren't they supposed to be reporting the truth and the facts?  I guess if the information doesn't fit their anti-Bush, anti-conservative agenda, the general public doesn't need to hear about it.  Please feel free to pass on this information to those who are clueless...

Just received some additional information from a reader (ddcb) - thanks!  who wished to provide the following math showing how the middle class is indeed reaping the benefits of the Bush Tax Cuts.  In hindsight, it's a great idea to publish this, since it makes it very easy to see how Bush's tax cuts DO help the middle class:

Taxes under Clinton - 1999:                    Taxes under Bush 2008:

Single making 25K - tax $3,750                  Single making 25K - tax $3,750

                                     $0 Difference

Single making 30K - tax $8,400                  Single making 30K - tax $4,500

                                     $3,900 savings under Bush

SIngle making 35K - tax $9,800                  Single making 35K - tax 8,750

                                     $1,050 savings under Bush

Single making 50K - tax $14,000                 Single making 50K - tax 12,500

                                     $1,500 savings under Bush

Married making 40K - tax $6,000                 Married making 40K - tax $6,000

                                     $0 Difference

Married making 60K - tax $16,800               Married making 60K - tax $9,000

                                     $7,800 savings under Bush

Married making 75K - tax $21,000                Married making 75K - tax $18,750

                                     $2,250 savings under Bush

Married making 100K - tax $28,000              Married making 100K - tax $25,000

                                     $3,000 savings under Bush

Thanks again to reader "ddcb" for this information.  I did not include all the numbers and  listed savings "ddcb" sent, since the proof is pretty obvious and would get repetitive.      Feel free to use this at anytime once you hear one of your Democratic or liberal friends claim "Bush's tax cuts only help the rich".  That statement is simply false.
