Lannon officials expect to complete installation of its $1.25 million Main Street water main by mid-July, according to Village Administrator James Lamb.
Homeowners and businesses who want to hook up to the system will have to pay about $7,500 for the privilege, he added, but no one will be forced to connect to the system. The project will also install fire hydrants along Main Street for better fire protection and faster response.
The pipeline will be installed under the street's right-of-way, so construction work will not require any lane closings. Traffic on Main Street will be narrowed for the state's Highway 74 project, however, for some of its estimated construction schedule of May 5 through mid-November.
