Sussex Cardinals right-handed pitcher Tim Saskowski pitched a complete-game shutout July 4 against Menomonee Falls at Tetzlaff-Veterans Field. The host Cardinals blanked the Menomonee Falls Lakers 4-0 in a Land O' Lakes (LOL) Western Division game.
Saskowski out-dueled Menomonee Falls right-hander Don August. Saskowski gave up four hits in the game, while striking out four and walking two. August allowed 10 hits and no walks, fanning four Cardinals batters.
Matt Rubatt had two hits for Menomonee Falls (6-6). Sussex got three hits, including two doubles and two RBIs from Ryan Gasper. Bryan Laabs, Seth Kroenke and Nick Ghelfi also had two hits for the Cardinals (8-4).
Elsewhere in the LOL Western Division, Oconomowoc defeated Hartland at Roosevelt Field, 11-3. Mike Bolson was the winning pitcher for Oconomowoc (8-3). Hartland starter Steve Lopez was the pitcher of record for Hartland (2-10).
The Brookfield Bulldogs continue to lead the LOL Western Division, posting a 17-5 victory in seven innings over the North Lake Lakers. The game was called after the seventh due to the LOL Western Division 12-run mercy rule.
Ernest Castro was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs (11-1). John Urban was the losing pitcher for North Lake (1-11 in the LOL).
Scott Booth went 4-for-4, including a triple, a home run and five RBIs for the Bulldogs. Mike Jacobs went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Mike Barczak went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for North Lake.
