The Pewaukee Common Council believes there is just cause for firing City of Pewaukee Police Chief Gary Bach after a personnel investigation following a Police Department study conducted this summer by Resource Management Associates.
The council filed a list of charges with the City Police and Fire Commission late Thursday, Oct. 9, and requested a hearing with the commission, which has the responsibility to hire, fire and take disciplinary action.
The charges were served on Bach last night.
The charges represent violations of four City of Pewaukee Police Department policies.
The most recent incidents occurred after a July 21 meeting with Mayor Scott Klein, City Human Resources Director Lisa Bergersen, Bach and his wife about the chief’s possible separation of employment with the city.
The charges allege that the next morning Bach met with detectives and a police captain, then made a phone call to a sergeant about the meeting.
Bergersen previously told Bach to keep discussions about his separation of employment with the city confidential.
Bach was placed on paid administrative leave July 23.
