Sign not placed by paper

Political signs prominently displayed on the lawn in front of Lake Country Publications, 440 Cardinal Lane, Hartland, have not been placed there by the newspaper and should not be construed as a political endorsement of the paper.

"Although Journal Communications wants us to be good  citizens in our community, we may not undertake any political involvement that ... threatens the company's credibility," according to the code of ethics for JCP's parent company. "Journalists, because their profession requires stringent efforts against partiality and perceived bias, may not work or act as an advisor, for pay or as a volunteer, in a political campaign or organization."

Efforts are being made to have the landlord remove or relocate the sign.
