With all the hoopla surrounding the American Idol finalist/local hero's visit, it might be easy to forget about the other major holiday this weekend. You know, the one that celebrates the woman who brought you into this world (and can take you out of it if you don't shut that sass mouth). If you haven't been to the florist yet, you'll be lucky to get a bouquet of hot pink carnations, and the jewelry stores are banking on procrastination.
Why stress over a typical gift guaranteed to get a mediocre response when you can get creative and really pull those heartstrings? Donate an apron with a special message to your mother for the Lakes Gallery of Fine Art's "Aprons in the Wind" exhibit.
