Lannon — Waste Management officials say the company plans to continue normally-scheduled garbage pickups next week, including Tuesday, the day after Labor Day, despite the Teamsters Union drivers’ strike, though lower-priority recycling pickups might be delayed.

Village Administrator James Lamb said officials of the Houston-based company told him they would bring in management personnel and out-of-town and even out-of-state drivers to pick up the garbage on time.

Lannon's garbage usually gets picked up Monday afternoons, except on holidays.

Lannon — Wondra Excavating is expected to complete the Main Street (Highway 74) watermain next week, according to a press release from Jeanne Marchant, Wisconsin Department of Transportation construction project engineer.

The department has completed concrete base patching on Highway 74 from Good Hope Road to Menomonee Falls and has begun spot improvements to storm sewer, curb, gutter and sidewalks.

The department will then begin its underground electrical work at Lannon and Good Hope roads for the installation of new traffic signals. Traffic conditions will keep changing throughout the project, Marchant’s release said.

More information is available from Marchant at her field office, (262) 251-1916, next to the flagpole in the Village Hall parking lot.

Lannon plans to finish water main by mid-July

Lannon officials expect to complete installation of its $1.25 million Main Street water main by mid-July, according to Village Administrator James Lamb.

Homeowners and businesses who want to hook up to the system will have to pay about $7,500 for the privilege, he added, but no one will be forced to connect to the system. The project will also install fire hydrants along Main Street for better fire protection and faster response.

The pipeline will be installed under the street's right-of-way, so construction work will not require any lane closings. Traffic on Main Street will be narrowed for the state's Highway 74 project, however, for some of its estimated construction schedule of May 5 through mid-November.

The Village of Lannon has set up a pair of 30-yard dumpsters outside Village Hall — one for yard waste and another for throwaways too large for regular trash pickups.

The yard-waste dumpster will take brush and branches up to six inches in diameter. Thicker branches and tree limbs and trunks may be dropped off in a pile next to the dumpster, which the Fire Department will burn.

The dumpsters will remain until they're full, according to Village Administrator James Lamb.

Lannon — Village officials want Scott Flick to stop operating a car repair business they say he is running out of his home in a residentially zoned neighborhood.

According to a lawsuit filed March 27 by Assistant Village Attorney Catherine Goodman Demski, Lannon Building Inspector Robert Blankenheim and Lannon Fire Chief Gary Georgenson found car repair tools, spare tires, repair manuals and business records for Lannon Auto Service, Flick's business, at his home at 7368 Lannon Road.

Lannon's lawsuit asks that Flick be fined $1,000 for each day his business violated the village's zoning rules.
