Sussex — Lt. Pete Chycinski will end his 12-year tenure as head of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Sussex Office and as the village's director of police services next Thursday, May 22.

According to Sheriff's Department officials, Chycinski will report for duty the next day in Waukesha as his last day on the job for a department going-away party.

Village officials have already recommended someone they'd like Sheriff Dan Trawicki to name as Chycinski's replacement, but have not revealed his name yet.

The Sussex Sun will publish Sussex Village Historian Fred Keller's profile and exclusive interview with Chycinski in next Wednesday's edition, and more details on this breaking story as it unfolds here at Living Lake Country.

Waukeha County Executive Dan Vrakas and Sheriff Dan Trawicki co-signed a $500,000 check to the Village of Sussex for a new sheriff's substation at its board meeting April 8.

The 4,000-square-foot addition to the Sussex fire station on Main Street will headquarter sheriff's deputies serving Sussex, Lisbon and the Village of Merton, plus two sheriff's detectives on separate shifts and the squad car that patrols the county's northeast quadrant.

All three communities contract with the sheriiff's department for police services.
