The Bush-Nationalist at LCL, Amy Hemmer and Jim Hayatt puke ad nasuem that criticism of President George Bush is tantamo
unt to being "hateful" and "Un-American" toward this country.
In
fact, when not impugning a liberal's patriotism isn't enough ire for them, they go far
as to assert that liberalism will destroy America and is enabling
terrorism.
This magic-chant for them is designed to anger their
opponent as a direct attack, and to reassure their smug arrogance in
all things "American." You know, the more times they say it, the more
they think the chant will become true.
This criticism is nothing but religious dedication and deification of a person - George Bush. Bush is objectified in this way.
The right-wing Bush-Nationalist, above all believes that George Bush is
not to be criticized by a liberal. However, if the criticism comes from
the right-wing, then by all means, is the criticism legitimate. Of course, the further to the right the criticism is, the more valid it becomes.
Imagine if Article 3 of the 1215 Lateran Council was penned today and read:
We imprison and
criminalize every liberal raising itself up against this holy,
Conservative Republicanism which we have expounded above. We
condemn all liberals, whatever names they may go under. They have
different faces indeed but their tails are tied together inasmuch as
they are alike in their pride. Let those condemned be handed over to
the religious or secular authorities present, or to their bailiffs, for due
punishment.
The Fourth Lateran Council of 1215 is widely credited with centuries of antisemitism for the ridiculous crime of "Host Desecration." Oh, that persecution - by Christians of course.
This afternoon, I checked my mail. I received this direct marketing piece
from McCain included an unnecessary absentee ballot request form (I'm
already registered), but a nice 4/4 piece extolling the virtues of
John McCain.
Unlike Amy Hemmer, who trashed an Obama pin to
waste resources in some futile gesture to stroke the fires of her
shallow conservative beliefs – I wish to make a point by shredding this advertisement of a smiling McCain, posturing in front of an American Flag no less, to itty-bitty pieces.
Simply, no symbol like a flag or creed, or no person is beyond criticism. No object supersedes the right of individuals.
Bush-Nationalists are the most vile of all types of authoritarians.
Like St. Augustine, they have suppressed their own authority, their own
reason, for the authority of an ideology that holds itself immune to
criticism. No, we are not discussing a falsifiable belief system - open
to revision, but a dogma as every bit as poisoning to a civil society
as the a cracker becoming the flesh of Christ and the subsequent
pogroms waged against countless Jewish populations.
If Obama does not win the election (as polls begin to trend in McCain's direction), Bush-Nationalist will become McCain-Nationalist.
I've blasphemed and desecrated a symbol of their religious affection.
I await my inevitable anathematization on that day.
