Mercy Me! The Season is Over! Booh!

What a miserable year for Packer fans has this been?

Although, I never stated it I was pretty sure that the Packers would post at least an 8-8 record since not much had changed with the team – even though Farve quit and moved on.

However, with yesterday's game against the hapless Lions, I felt no joy at their 0-16 record, even though I felt a little relief at the Packer's win against their division rivals.

I have some theories why the Lion organization is so screwed up.

It has to be the jackets. Look at those things!

Really? This style of padded jacket, finished in a warm grey (as opposed to the cool grey of the Lions uniforms) make them look padded Pillsbury dough boys – wobbling around on the field.

That aside...

The Pack has a lot to do in securing talent in the off-season. I think Rogers did a pretty excellent job this year. I will, like most fans, expect more from the young QB. However, Thompson is going to have to get players on both sides of the ball, players who can control the line of scrimmage.

In my opinion the Packer's linebacker core and guards did a really miserable job this year. I wasn't expecting to much from the guards, but I thought at least our defense would be a little stronger. We need solid, healthy guards to protect Rogers next year.

And special teams, I think, were miserable.

Well, no playoffs this year as is our birth-right as Packers fans.

At least the Cowboys and the Bears will not be in the playoffs if that's any consultation.

Congrats to the Brewers!

The series is over and the Brewers first play-off appearance in 26 years has come to a close. *Sigh* I imagine that most Brewers fans in this area were on the edge of their seats for these four games.

I was.

Brewers v Phillies 4.25

I received a text message from one of my best friends who went to the game today. I think he said it best when he sums up the series and in a way this season:

Season over. :-( It was a good one. Congrats to the crew. At least they did a better than the cubs. :-D
I expect the Brewers to come back stronger next year. We will have a better manager - hopefully a proven winner with playoff wins and our up coming pitching like Gallardo and Parra will be tough to the point where we will not miss Sheets and C.C.

I think we will be in the playoffs again and the Brewers will be as every bit as tough as Aaron Rodgers playing through injury today.

Will Farve Return?

By MC Pickard

I was in-between jobs, freelancing steady, when I started my first day as bartender at the new Chilies in Oconomowoc. I did this to make some cash because of that inventible 30/60/90 day payout lag that all freelancers must negotiate around. It was my first day, early morning, when the news broke that Farve had retired. Wow. If you've never worked food services or bartended before, let me tell you, bartending is a young person's job. I've worked office jobs as a designer for the past decade or more and all that pain from being on my feet all day - not fun. I like to joke that my hands are "mouse-calloused." Bartending is not playing football and therefore not as physically demanding and with Farve and I roughly the same age (late 30's) I could totally understand his fatigue.

Last week Thursday, I was at Lambeau Field when the news was all over ESPN that Farve was possibly returning for another year. My wife was like "no-way." I wasn't too sure what I felt, because I had pretty much reserved myself to ride it out with Aaron Rodgers. With Farve, you know your at least good for a .500 season, yet Rodgers would bring a new era of unpredictability and excitement for good or for worse that I was looking forward to.

Well, I don't know how I feel about Farve possibly returning. Every year we have to go through the tiresome speculation of his retirement. I was glad to be done with it frankly. And I think Rodgers deserves a chance.

Let's speculate. If Farve did return and didn't resume his career with the Packers, would I hate that Farve ended up playing with one of division rivals? No, not really. I just hate to face him in game if I were the Pack. The man should do what is in his heart I suppose, but he would easily have our number in those games!

In the meantime, we have baseball. I've been a lifelong Brewer fan, so with the addition of Sabathia and with more moves to come promised by Mark Attanasio, I can not wait to get this half of the season on!

GO BREW CREW!!!!
