Covering Up The Crisis & Shifting Blame for the Failed Bailout

By Ed Furey

Another must see video.  Thanks to Charlie Sykes.

Democrats are the majority party in Congress.  This means that if they want something to pass, all they need to do is vote for it.  Nancy Pelosi says that the Republicans are to blame for the bailout failure, because only one third of them voted to approve it.  Yet she only needed a few more votes for it to pass and nearly 100 Democrats voted against this package.  Sorry Nancy, this does not pass the common sense rule.  To top it off, she is the one that called for a vote knowing full well that they were short of the votes needed.  All morning and early afternoon the press said that they didn't have the votes.

Barney Frank (the second coming of Elmer Fudd - has anybody listened to the way he talks?), Harry Reid and Pelosi have had their own agenda on this since the start.  First Reid says that the Democrats won't vote for anything unless McCain shows up to vote, then McCain calls his bluff and puts Country First to try and make sure that if something is done it gets done right, at which point Reid says don't come we don't need you.  The reason was they were trying to position Obama as the savior and leader.  Even during the big meeting at the White House, the other Democrats deferred to Obama so that he could show his leadership and take charge.  The Democratic leadership was appalled when he failed to do so.  Obama ready to lead?  There isn't one Democratic leader that thinks he is.

Ed, the Democrats are living up to their 9% approval rating. Barney Frank, the ultra liberal Democrat in charge of the Financial Services Committee, couldn’t get his own committee to vote YES for the bailout. 12 of his committee members voted against this package! When do liberals wake up? I know there is nothing we can do to get the poor or ignorant to see this, thanks to the bias media. But how does the so-called intelligencia not see this? They have cable and other outlets to see the truth as to why the Democrats have the lowest approval rating ever.

How can anyone vote to put a Democrat (Obama for the dummies out there) in charge of these “do anything to win an election” Democrats? And not a whiff of this in the mainstream press. That’s as un-American as it gets. And most liberals don’t take the time to investigate as to how this all started. Show one of them the truth and you get a character assignation at its finest. Will someone tell me what snapped in these liberals brains please?

133 of 195 Republicans voted no. The Republican Party is in such disarray they can't even muster a majority vote within their own party for a bill proposed by the party's President. It's obvious the Republican Party is currently without leadership.

How can any of you defend one side over the other, everyone is screaming that this situation is "DIRE" and either side could have passed it if they wanted to yet neither did? Why do you think that is, maybe it is because no one wants to take credit for a plan that will not work....Can anyone offer up any proof of what will happen if nothing is done, so far all I have heard is things will be really bad and that is coming from politicians. Common sense tells me that we should take a wait and see approach and the goverment should only get involved if the private sector fails to turn it around. What do I think will happen, once again we will blindly allow our politicians to scare us into the wrong course of action(like the Iraq war) and how will we react when we discover the truth, we will point fingers and blame the other party..........

Good ole Ed.  Always looking to place blame and point fingers.  The crisis is a combination of many things -- Republican and Democrat.  Come on Ed, you're smarter than that!  Like I've said before, too many people focus on who to blame instead of how to fix things.  Looking to blame rather than looking for solutions.  Negative bashing versus positive promoting of a person's candidate.  I read in the Chief the purpose of the blog was to educate and to promote a well-rounded understanding of happenings in our country.  Let's try to do that in a positive, productive way!  It's not happening with what I've been reading in a lot of these blogs.

jmark:  I'm actually applauding the Republicans and Democrats that stood up to their leaders and said no to this bailout.  This is a plan that was rushed into production.  Even the dollar figure is just a big number to make people take notice.  There is no real relationship between that number and any actual value to the bailout.  I would prefer that they take more time to put something together with some rational reasoning as to what the value of the plan would be.  They also need to do a lot more to provide protections for the middle class than they currentyl offer and they also need to make it easier for small to medium sized businesses to get the credit and protections they need in order to remain successful.

Ed: We're in agreement. I'm all for taking a deliberate and restrained approach to solving this crisis. This matter requires serious debate, and the fact that some of our most powerful politicians, both Democrat and Republican, would like to shove this 700 billion dollar boondoggle down our throats without critical examination is appalling and gutless.

jmark...neither could the Democrats who have enough votes to make this, or any bill, into law. Why did you not mention that MOST important fact??? And the fact that Democrat Barney Frank's own Financial committee wouldn't even pass their own desgined bill?
